In regards to Star Wars, I quit Resistance once the hazing of main character Kazuda Xiono got too much for me.
yeah, resistance was frustrating, especially after rebels, which was really good.

My only issue was the General Grievous Character was him growing a Beam Cannon from his arms.
Like seriously, where was he hiding all that extra mass?

Is he linked to a local replicator somewhere nearby for all the extra parts to form the canon around his arm?

That's the only explanation that makes sense given his Android/Cyborg body.
here we go again, discussing about canon.

Well, replicators ARE a thing in the Star Trek universe.

The hovercraft reminds me of the ones in The Matrix
Dal has cute eyes and ears. Does the Na'vi tail do anything?
Facial animation could be better, but the scenery looks great
The look of the colony reminds me of Elite Force II
Pog looks too cartoonish for my taste :ack:
The medusan box looks pretty much like the one in TOS :techman:
Zero can hover without legs
The ship launches by falling, like the Franklin in Beyond :D
The first orange Starfleet ship shields, I think
Lamest phaser sound ever :ack:
Murf will probably be most people's favorite :luvlove:
The best part was the ship itself, it just looks great!

I know, but his transformation showed none of the traditional Replicator VFX and more "Go Go Gadget" transformation.
Same tech that made the asteroid collector unfold in Disco S2 ;)

Okay, first of all, I want to say that yes, I'm not the target audience but that I genuinely enjoy watching some cartoons even if they are aimed at a younger audience, and even children's cartoons can have a broader audience if written well.

And I gotta say...well, the first episode didn't exactly wow me. A lot of it looks like it's trying (and failing) to be a Star Wars cartoon, even the bad guy kinda looks Darth Vader-ish.
In some ways I might have liked it better if it was not a Star Trek show, because right now the only connections are the ship, Holo-Janeway and that one Kazon.
And to be clear that's not because I don't think it's "good enough" to be Star Trek, but rather that I really REALLY don't want Star Trek to gain a monopoly on TV Science Fiction. So when I see a show like this, which (so far) has only very strenuous connections to the franchise, I cannot help but wish it would be an independent show instead.
Maybe the following episodes will have more Star Trek stuff, but like, they don't even have a main-character who is an established species or anything.

But I do like that it's apparently set in the Delta Quadrant.

You might wanna looks up Medusans and Tellarites.

I thought that was easily one of the best premiere episodes in the franchise. I think one of my favorite aspects of the whole thing is that it's not trying too hard to prove that it's Star Trek. I only watched one episode of Lower Decks and its need to bombard the audience with a million references put me off right away. With Prodigy initially being more distant, it makes moments like the Diviner mentioning the Federation or Rok discovering the combadge feel special. Almost giving Starfleet this mythic status.

They actually do, as noted. Zog is a Tellarite, though he looks more Talaxian. Zero is a Medusan, which was a species seen in TOS...sort of. The sight of one supposedly drives a person mad so we don't really know what they look like.

Well, that's the point. This isn't supposed to have broad connections to Star Trek at the moment. It is supposed to be that introductory type piece for kids (and apparently adults) to the larger world. So, the main characters are the audience stand ins for people learning about the Federation from the Star Trek avatar in Janeway.

I'm not big on giving grades, but as for my own assessment of the episode(s)...the show isn't as unwatchable as I was afraid it was going to be; sticking with it won't be a chore, and I'm interested to see where they're going with the premise.

But yeah, the whole style veritably screams Star Wars.

That's the only explanation that makes sense given his Android/Cyborg body.

I wouldn't necessarily characterize it as 'extra mass'... more like mini parts which are usually lying inside his body and might be travelling through the arms internally to assemble into a canon (or other technology) where the hands are.

It could be early form of programmable matter even... or nanotechnology of some kind... not necessarily a replicator tech... or just basic molecular fabrication perhaps?
Given that we can already make computers which are smaller than a grain of rice and have metamaterials which can assemble into shapes that we want, imagine just how much more advanced the technology would be in the future... even from a species that doesn't have UFP technology.
