Man Trap Versus Turnabout Intruder

I expected more from the "crucial" Robbiani dermal-optic test. <Sigh.>

I expected more Kirk colors....

Interesting reading people's views on the Salt Vampire. It certainly is telepathic, or at least can read minds/thoughts on some level. It clearly can dig quite deep into the mind, producing a fantasy man for Uhura, and picking up on the 'Plum' nickname from McCoy's distant memory (unless it got this from the real Nancy). So clearly it has more abilities than simply paralysing its victims. Indeed, it only killed its long-term companion when it was cornered. And of course, it's intelligent enough to camouflage itself/blend in socially when in another's form. Perhaps it's species developed this ability due to being hunted by predators?

"Man Trap" is my favorite episode of TOS. "Turnabout Intruder," well, has a few parts that are so over the top in their sexism that it's funny. But it's also very cringe. And that's not even mentioning just how dull the story is, and how dumb it's use of an already dumb cliche is.

"Man Trap" on the other hand is just great fun. The Salt Vampire, dead redshirts, and Spock vs. "Nancy" (maybe problematic, but a riot nonetheless).

One more thing I like about The Man Trap is that the dead redshirts are in fact all blueshirts!

MT is also probably *the* episode for showing the lower levels/activities of usually unseen crewmen, as our Salt Vampire hunts the ship. It sets up the bustling activity for the rest of the series, but sadly is never really seen to this degree again. No other episode really comes close, although we do get weapons control in Balance of Terror.

There's also the rec room scenes in Charlie X and again in Conscience Of The King but you're right; the clear winner is The Man Trap.

I guess that crewman fixed Uhura's rattling doors if you know what I'm saying.
