Domino's Pizza. Is their pizza any good?

There have been stages of awakening in my life.

Home (oven) cooked frozen pizza as a child gave as misleading an impression of pizza as was humanly possible, only rectified by the discovery of "proper" pizza cooked in proper pizza ovens for delivery in flat boxes. This sufficed for several decades. Even restaurant "eat in" pizza wasn't noticeably dissimilar.

Then came a restaurant offering wood fired oven pizza. Who used the best authentic ingredients, who imported their tomatoes from Sicily, who used a slow rising sourdough base and was owned by a guy from Positano.

Mass produced pizza is still a fine thing, and it certainly has It's place, but it's never going to compete.

I've strangely never had Domino's, but my body's probably thanking me. Mostly it's Little Caesar's for us as the price is good and cheap.

I guarantee you, no one’s body has ever thanked them for eating Little Caesar’s.

Domino’s is okay.

For a chain, I’ll take Round Table.

But when we indulge it’s usually a local hole in the wall that makes incredible pizza.

Son, it's none of my business how you choose to live your life. But glory hole pizza is not living. Have some self-respect.

I lost interest in Pizza Hut when they stopped making the P'zone. :sigh:
In the decade or more that you have been carrying on this bizarre oft-repeated lament (and you are literally the only person I've ever seen upset about a chainstore calzone being gone), the P'Zone has come and gone again several times, sometimes for a period of a few years. Most recently it came back again in 2019, the same year Covid-19 arrived. Coincidence? I think not.

But if you are so determined to have one and can't find a local pizzeria that makes calzones, then just make some yourself:

Well, caught me there. Yeah, I guess it wouldn't either. To be honest, we don't have all that many local places. We seem to be a city overrun with chains, left and right. Even the biggest local we have is a growing chain that started here and now it's all over the Province.

I like my local larger city which has a lot of smaller franchises, and larger chains. Pizza Hut is lower on the list, but that's only because we have such a huge variety of different ones. Domino's does just fine for me, while Little Caesar's has not ever really set well for me.

Domino's can be great if you are willing to spend a little more money. I also recently went to a MOD Pizza was good.

Pizza Hut's Detroit Style is interesting, albeit messy, what with the sauce on the top.

Rocky Rococo's (only up in Wisconsin any more AFAIK) make a similar square pizza that is really good. Sauce is under the cheese there tho.

Just wondering if anyone here has ordered pizza from Domino's Pizza? Is their pizza any good or should i stick with Pizza Hut?

These days I eat pizza and chicken from the buffet at a Pizza Ranch

I always pick Pizza Hut over Dominoes .. Pizza Hut pizzas aren't quite so obviously frozen

I prefer Pizza Hut but I'm fine with Domino's. I think it was in the 2000s where perception of Domino's was really bad and they had to change up how they made their pizzas. If you want a great pizza, you're gonna have to fork out $30-$50 to get something from a ma and pa place.

I really like the Papa Murphy's bake it yourself pizzas but the one nearby went out of business.

30 to 50? :wtf:

Some small mom-and-pop pizza restaurants aren't cheap. Some friends and I once split one large pizza and it cost about $25 or $30 with all of us chipping in.

$30 seems to be the upper limit for a large pizza at non-chain places in my area. Maybe some of them have "jumbo" sizes that cost more than that?

Kor

I'm aware but wow. I can get a decent brick oven style pizza from a local chain (read two restaurants) for 15. Even the real small shops in my small town are still 20 dollar mark. Hence my surprise because I see that so rarely.
