Beckett comparing herself to Kirk irked me alot. She is nothing like Kirk. After 2 seasons, she still is the most irksome character I have ever seen on any tv show. How she is still in starfleet amazes me.

I mean, her mother flat out scoffs at the comparison. Also, Mariner has rapidly become the least mature member of the quartet and they're ready to move past her.

Because she's staying in place and they're growing.

She even flat out said that she was benefiting from nepotism.

That was the only part of the episode I didn't like. Also, on another forum I was commenting how it feels like what the fan perception of Kirk is is not really what the series portrayed, and this episode brought up that stereotype again.

Other than that, this finished a great stretch of episodes for Lower Decks. I think I need to rewatch last weeks because I might have been a little harsh on it, but the last 4 episodes of the season were really strong. I did not see the ending of this episode coming and that was quite a cliffhanger. I wonder if what Rutherford saw and what happened to Freeman are connected in a way. I've already seen some speculation of Section 31, and it's late and maybe the two are completely unrelated, but those were two really interesting plot points to this episode and I wonder if we are seeing "The Minds Eye" with Rutherford in real time. I also really liked Catation Ops and seeing the Dolphin crewmembers. It kinda reminded me of Darwin from Sequest DS9, but I wish the subtitles didn't go as fast as they did. I bet I missed a lot.

I'd probably give this episode a 9. I'm being generous, but the way this series ended it's second season felt like the writers are finding an identity for this show and starting to get into a groove. Lower Decks really has become my favorite of the new Trek series, and I can't wait till season 3.

Gomez is such a strange character to bring back. She was like in two episodes.
They changed her ship from the da Vinci I noticed. Speaking of that ship it was a rather strange one. Looked like the Probert concept to the Enterprise C to me

Nepotism, all the lives she saves balances out all the BS problems she causes.

StarFleet shunted her to be under the watch of her mother, probably with a little help from Admiral Dad.

I like the implications Beckett Mariner is actually someone who has suffered some sort of breakdown and her crazy immature behavior is something new.

Looks like the Excelsior got modernized with Soverign Nacelles and was given Growth Hormone to be fatter.

Seriously, when are they going to start EMP proofing StarFleet vessels?

This isn't the first time they've dealt with Power Drain attacks or similar things.

I think Pakleds has to be one species where the rest of the universe should team up to strip them of their advanced technology and we confine their people back to their planet so they can naturally evolve into a more peaceful and intelligent species.

They really have the mental capabilities of neanderthals or cro magnons.

However they got access to advanced tech, it's literally wasted on them and they're causing issues throughout the inter-galactic community.

Given the hole in their planet, I don't think that will be a problem.

Not to mention in 6 years time, the whole intergalactic community gets thrown off balance when Romulus goes Ka-blooey.

The most common misconception with the Kirk character was that he was a ladies man. He really wasn’t.

So is Rutherford the Black Ops agent of Section 31 that he speculated was secretly embedded on the Cerritos? It would go a long way to explaining why he can defeat a dozen Borg with his bare hands and also how on autopilot he can perform a complicated spy mission.

Hell, why a Vulcan implant can control his emotions.

The most common misconception with the Kirk character was that he was a ladies man. He really wasn’t.

Kirk kissed three girls, slept with two, and had six past relationships mentioned in the TOS era. Also enslaved by one tribal sex witch.

That's not nothing either.

I'd say she's really the most Kirksome character.

I'm almost said they didn't go, "You're not like Kirk at all! You're like some weird alternate universe Kirk who got made a captain right after graduation!"

It’s not Hobus in the new timeline.

Maybe Romulus' sun could be named Hobus. :)

Considering she was in the original Pakled episode it makes a little more sense. I always enjoyed her so it was nice having her appear again.

As far as the da Vinci I don’t think there is anything contradicting her being transferred to a different ship after the last time we saw her in Destiny but that’s only true until something contradicts the litverse Timeline completely.
