While I called it many moons ago that the Raiders would go nowhere on his watch, I really wish he would’ve been fired for football reasons. I never thought he would be a racist and homophobic.

Yeah, you and thousands of others, many of them Raiders fans. Wasn’t exactly a hot take.

I never thought he would be a racist and homophobic.

I did, at least the racism part. But white racists also tend to be homophobic, transphobic., etc.

Gruden’s love affair with ”old fashioned” football, the way he exudes “bro culture,” his disdain for following league COVID masking requirements, his firing of punter, Markett King, who was a free spirit who was active on social media, and just a real character, which meant Gruden probably saw him as BLM or something.

As for the Raders’ next HC, the problem with having an inexperienced guy like Mark Davis, is that when it comes to coaches, he’ll only hire a guy with some type of track record, likely a NFL retread. We’re not likely to get a Sean McVey because Mark doesn’t have the football savvy or courage to make such a hire. The Only way Raiders will get a winning HC is by pure luck.

Is Blake Bortles just not that good of a QB to even be a backup? The Seahawks kicked the tires on him and passed. The Packers had him over the summer and cut him. He bounced around with Denver last season but mostly on the practice squad and never saw playing time. Blaine Gabbert has outlasted him.

Based upon the statistics shared on the local sports radio this morning Bortles does not inspire confidence.
