That's why you should be stocked up ahead of time.

I can't figure out why people just don't save the wood they boarded up the windows from the previous hurricane. Better yet, install functional storm shutters that just need to be closed when storms approach.

TV shows and movies that have predictable plots. Meaning... the anticipation and the thrill of the chase (meaning of two characters after one another). Dating other people and finding out you want to be with the person you were in love with originally. And so on.

Speaking of which I just saw Free Guy and while a lot of fun it was predictable.

How the hell is mathematics supposed to be racist? I literally do not understand that argument.

I mean, what the fuck does math have to do with "White supremacy" or anything like that? It's NUMBERS. You can't get less emotional, biased, racist, etc. if you tried.

And I might point out that non-White cultures were into mathematics for thousands of years before we came along...

The first 3 links are far-right sites trying to "show" how "liberals are nuts". The Atlantic article (2017) is about teacher bias and the CNN article (2016) is about algorithms and data usage. I might look at more tomorrow. But remember: Never go by headlines alone. :)

Yeah I'm totally skeptical about the maths is racist stuff because all of that seems like alt right talking points, and out and out bullshit.

There are those who believe that, though. I didn't just make that up.

I keep wanting to put the effort and try to get good at Poker. But you can't legally play Poker for money online in America which is stupid because there's a lot more skill to it than fantasy football which you can bet money on. Then there's the play money games which are easy to find, but since people aren't betting real money and don't care they just push all in every damn turn so your choices are to call with whatever and make the game nearly all luck or play premium hands only.

I know how to play poker, I'm just not very good at it. My husband meets up with a few friends to play about once a month. They play for low money (coins mostly) but take it fairly seriously. I always look forward to hearing how it went. :)

I know the stuff like, which starting hands to play, how and when to play them, how to approximate the odds that you will hit a straight or flush. Where I'm not as good is putting myself in the position of my opponent, seeing my actions from his or her perspective, and making the right decisions when I have a good but not great hand that may or may not be ahead. That's why I need practice, and casinos are a long drive and expensive. Which is why I wish I could just log on from home and play tables with 5/10 or 10/25 cent blinds.

I can bet 100 dollars on whether an NFL player has a good day or not but I can't bet 10 cents on a hand of poker. It's just stupid.
