I've been asking that since the damn lawsuit.

Probably with the financial books, the badges and the coffee.

Atlanta Police Now Charging Alec Peters with Criminal Assault

AxaMonitor has obtained a revised copy of the police report with a criminal assault charge that may raise the stakes against Axanar producer Alec Peters after his September 5 DragonCon altercation with ardent critic Shawn O'Halloran. And that's just one of the legal challenges Peters is facing in the next week, which has only boosted his boasting on Facebook. Read more »

That's honestly what I expected when I saw the initial footage and was surprised it wasn't the initial charge. Stupid move on his part to escalate the harassment to a physical altercation.

Okay, so let's see if they add filing a false statement and/or perjury to the list.

Surely the legal genius that is lawyer-by-training Alec would have anticipated the consequences of procuring a TPO with a false, sworn, statement?

Well, the one thing that would have made that more entertaining for me is if O'Halloran had brought a "that was easy" button to push after Peters assaulted him.

It's hilarious to me that Alec Peters just won't publicly shut up RE: Pending litigation he's directly involved in. Any public statement he makes CAN be used in court hearing by the opposing attorney; which is why any intelligent litigant will respond with "I have no comment as there is pending litigation" or just "No comment..."

For a 'lawyer by training' Alec sure comes across as an idiot WRT the legal process/court proceedings.

So Peters was granted an Extended Protective Order against Shawn.......and I am sure that will lay the groundwork for his defense of the assault charge......he "feared for his safety".......everyone involved in this is pretty stupid at this point. They have way more disposable income than I do too it seems to just be throwing it away on airfare and lawyers.

    PETERS GETS PROTECTION
Axanar producer Alec Peters convinced a judge Tuesday to extend a temporary protective order against ardent critic Shawn O’Halloran for 12 months, but did the ruling actually follow the law? Meanwhile, instead of crowing over the victory, Axanar supporters focused on a false claim that AxaMonitor had been ejected from the courtroom. Read more »

Posting false claims? No, I don't believe it!! I mean, their leader is as pure and innocent as the driven snow. He would never allow anyone to make up stuff they know isn't true, would he?

Yup. Spend thousands on a family vacation with your wife and kid(s)? Nah. Fly across the country to do something dumb just to prove the other guy is even dumber and then spend thousands more on the legal fallout. That'll show the other guy! None of this gets people back their money nor the film they were promised years ago.

If you are counting on "justice" to determine who the good guys and the bad guys are, you are looking in the wrong direction. Morally depraved and horrifically unethical people regularly abuse the law to get what they want.

Yep the U.S. has a legal system, not a justice system. Sometimes things will align and you will get actual Justice but most times things don't work out that way in our legal system.

Is that what actually happened or was he just attending the con and decided to face down AP since he was there? There’s a big difference between the two. His actions re how he confronted Peters were idiotic, but that’s another matter.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend so much of their life in courtroom dramas. Unless they thrive on drama, I suppose?

That movie is never gonna happen.
