Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I made myself feel a little guilty a week or two ago. I've mentioned in the animals thread that I follow the horse rescue Colby's Rescue Crew, and in some of their videos the person doing the videos referred to "my wife", and I had just assumed that her spouse was a guy. A week or two ago I was I reading through her bio on their website, and it turns out the woman who runs it is married to another woman. I like to think of myself as a very open minded liberal, and I was disappointed in myself that I automatically made the assumption that she was married to a man.

Reminds me of the time I was in Seattle a few years ago and (while attending a Mariners game) I ate the grasshoppers

They were very good, but undoubtedly the spiciest thing I have ever eaten.

I was actually jumping up and down on the stadium concourse going "I need a beer! I NEED A BEER!"

And no, I wouldn't do this again. Not because of the yuck factor - indeed, there WAS no yuck factor, because as I said, the grasshoppers were delicious - but they were just too expensive. You get a tiny cup of them and it costs $4.

No thanks. Like Vegas...it's fun to do once, but not really jonesing to do it again.

I'm as tolerant and open-minded as the next person, and I'd make that assumption too. So would most people. Nothing to feel guilty about.

You know something is iconic when everyone copies/pays homage to it. :)

I was going through junk stored (and mostly forgotten) in an old shed, and discovered an old seam ripper. This old seam ripper is probably at least 35 years old and it has "Solid as Sears" printed on it. Ha! This seam ripper is more solid than Sears, it turns out.

My two Sears & Roebuck seam rippers are still sharp as Hell. If only Mom hadn't traded in that Kenmore sewing machine for a later p.o.s. model.

Knowing how to sew and hem saved me many a $ to spend on beer--and other adult beverages-- through the years.

My Kenmore sewing machine was great and I sewed a lot of clothes, etc, for my 3 kids. It finally pooped out about 20 yrs ago and I had to buy a new machine. Well, ok, about 4 new machines. But I still remember that Kenmore fondly.
