Star Trek should always change and evolve. If they stuck with Gene's vision and not budge a bit the show would not have grown into so many other series and movies, would have become old and very stale.

10 seasons and a spin off movie

My gut say maybe five. Do shows on streaming channels even last seven seasons or more anymore? I thought the industry model now was to end a series at about three seasons but have a related show ready to take the place?

I love Discovery, don't get me wrong, but my gut says five. Or maybe just four, what with all the other series being made.

Yeah, I think they'll retire it for a new series.

I'm leaning towards five. It's tough to keep a cast for a decade now.

I honestly wouldn't like to guess. I'm amazed it's made it this far.

It got this far because it's popular despite the naysayers.

I hope bumping not one but two of my threads tonight isn't seen in a dim light. The other one, the one about my fourth-season predictions, is maybe pushing it a little but I figure this particular thread could still get some ongoing mileage in the months and years to come!

So far, 11.1% of last year's guesses have been dashed. Has anything from the most recent season altered your thoughts on the matter? I'm still sticking with six, personally.

We now know there are at least five. As fate would have it, five is the slim majority vote!

I'm guessing they're going to stop at five (P+ only ordered ten eps, down from the usual thirteen).

    AGAIN ...

NCIS (Hello there! :) ) is on its nineteenth season (they've gone through a TON of people  ).

8 seasons, much to the annoyance of Berman Trek fans.

Perhaps! Though with everything else at ten per season over there, including Trek (Prodigy gets 20, but layered like 10x2, ha) I figured that has more to do with Paramount having total control to conform to the rest now that the show has been "freed" from Netflix influence.

    I'm still going with seven.

Since PIC's ending after three seasons, and PIC's third season will come out the same year as DSC's fifth. 2023. I don't think they want to have to replace two shows during the same year.

So, going by that line of reasoning: DSC gets at least six seasons. And if you're going to do six, you might as well just do seven, call it a Star Trek Tradition, and hype the Hell out of it.

I've actually been entertaining the potential notion of Picard's third and final season airing from around November 2022 to January 2023, by the way. Filming has already wrapped, so it's way, way ahead of Disco Five.
