Since Star Wars gets its own day it was nice seeing Star Trek mentioned on the evening news in a positive light, and also to learn that October 9 is Star Trek Day.

Did anyone celebrate it or is it just not as big as that other franchise's special day?

I watched some Deep Space 9 and pretended that my Mountain Dew was Aldebaran whisky.

I didn't . Had I wished to celebrate it would have been the day before as I first saw the show, on Wednesday, September 7th. In Montreal. Those in western Canada saw it even earlier.

    According to Newsweek:

"On September 8, 1966, Star Trek made its debut on television, forever changing the genre of science fiction as we know it."

    Wrong.

This will probably make more sense in the GenTrek Forum. Off we go.

I opened my boxes of wand Star Trek items and toyed with it; I almost forgot my communicator has a blue tooth function, and in a flash the receptionist from my favorite restaurant Roka Akor was asking, "how can I help you?".

Watched some of the live coverage of the event in Los Angeles, and was thrilled by the big reveals regarding the cast of STRANGE NEW WORLDS.

In honor of Star Trek Day, I coldly watched my two Caitians Lilly and CoCo fight each other over control of the sacred cat tower, and smugly but logically told them "I'm sorry, but I can't interfere in your internal dispute because my people have a Prime Directive that forbids it. Carry on." Then I started singing the Amok Time fight music. DUH duh duh DUH duh duh DUH duh duh duh DUH!

In seriousness, I watched the live stream event and was pleasantly surprised by the casting reveals in Strange New Worlds and enjoyed the Picard trailer.
