What about the fact that actual militaries of today have multiple uniform styles in circulation? Or are you going to claim "Starfleet isn't a military" to shoot this down?I have a problem that Star Trek keeps doing it. I don't want an on-screen explanation, I want them to get their shit together and settle on one uniform style at a time.

What does a fish need with a submarine?

I already did that thread! It's a military force(sorry, peacenik fans![]()
) and the military doesn't have one design of uniform for all officers and enlisted personnel no matter their jobs or ranks. Starfleet's no different.
Wut? We still have the different styles for different postings, it's literally the same principal on Lower Decks and Disco as it was on DS9 with their uniforms and the TNG uniforms.I thought it was very cool that DS9 had two uniform styles for what was clearly two different kinds of postings (DS9 and the traditional TNG uniform for starships.) But everything after that has just been random, sloppy bullshit for no reason.
I think there is a desire for some reason for it to happen now, which is a common critique I see of new shows, that they are changing things for the sake of changing rather than respecting what has come before. Thus far, no amount of past examples are going to satisfy this expectation.Wut? We still have the different styles for different postings, it's literally the same principal on Lower Decks and Disco as it was on DS9 with their uniforms and the TNG uniforms.
At this point, you really are just coming off as a "old shows do it it's okay, modern shows do it it sucks."
perhaps admiral freeman handles the engineering fleet…did we see other admirals so far?The only issue there is that the admirals should be wearing the FC uniforms. Only Ceritos’ crew should have this uniform
But Tawny Newsome is 38 and the characters were reportedly cast so they could be played by their voice actors in live action, meaning we can’t have a serious age discrepancy. Jack Quaid is 29.
"Well, for a cat who swore she'd never return to the Starfleet..."
On Lower Decks? Yes, there were two other Admirals seen in the first season, this unnamed Admiral in Temporal Edict and Admiral Vassery seen Moist Vessel and Crisis Point.perhaps admiral freeman handles the engineering fleet…did we see other admirals so far?

Yes, they apparently didn't fit well and only looked good on paper, which can happen with brand-new untested costumes.Allegedly, as far as I remember, it was not an issue of familiarity, but that the discarded uniforms ended up not looking very well on screen. Why they did the mix is beyond me.
That's it - the weather on the Cerritos is different!Yeah, when my dad was in the USAF from 1947 to 1971 he wore different uniforms depending on location, weather and the job he was doing.
Lots of great uniforms in that movie. I know everyone's different, but damn I still love those monster maroons. In Star Trek V there were five uniform variants depending on the crewmember and mission: the Red Maroons, Kirk's bomber jacket with rank insignia, the landing party/strike team uniforms, the yeoman/cadet-style uniforms and the engineering uniforms seen ever since TMP.
