Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

This trio aesthetically goes together! The blue-yellow looks like a customised Colonial Viper. Don't recognise the red-white.

He's looking for the Galactica---the other is wondering what happened to his engines...looks like that clamp turned loose...by the way--where were those ships from?

Cross Cult, is now bringing out the German-language edition of the USS Enterprise-D Illustrated Handbook.

Now for them to do Perry Rhodan ship manuals in English

The new releases are too Voyager heavy for me again. Do they pick VOY as the authors have access to the writers and actors for the magazine?

My picks for issues I'd like to see: the Ferengi shuttle, the Bajoran starship, the Yridian starship, the Wadi ship and the Flaxian ship. The original version of the Jem'Hadar cruiser from "In Purgatory's Shadow" would be nice too.

For space stations I would pick the Cardassian facility from "Tacking Into the Wind" and the Klingon station seen in "Apocalypse Rising".

I heard there is some issue with CBS about adapting some of the animated designs. It’s why we haven’t got the Ceritos or the Aqua Shuttle yet.

No, it’s just concern about lack of interest. They put up the calendar Bonaventure & the Animated Bonaventure in a poll and the calendar version won, so had it not we would’ve had the animated version come out last year.

Ben Robinson recently implied a Cerritos is in the way (and I can’t imagine it wouldn’t be!) https://twitter.com/bencsrobinson/status/1427359629244305410?s=21

Well in that case the calendar version is a better design. The TAS one just looks like a squished Connie.

I would assume the reason we are seeing some Voyager releases is that Voyager and Enterprise have the highest number of ships created for their series, and the vast bulk of Voyager ships already have a full CGI reference file created for them. And while Enterprise would not only have all CGI ships that have reference files for (and likely most created in higher detail), but the show was the last watched show when it aired on broadcast. I assume that that Eaglemoss keeps detailed records on what models do well, and by extension which series seems to sell best especially when factoring in the cost related to create and produce.

At one point Enterprise was very heavily featured (and I loved it as Enterprise created a huge amount of ships for its 4 years), but I also understand how it was the least viewed show out of the Berman era, so their sales might not be the best.

Based on the Delta Quadrant books you can have a good idea of which ships Eaglemoss seriously considered for a model.

Since they are making two for the alpha and Beta Quadrants, I would assume (if they are still making individual ships on occasion) that we might see more from the other series.

So they've used EAS for the sizes, and now EAS can claim semi-official endorsement? Bernd can claim semi-victory in his long war!

Just seems crazy to do this when all the evidence is to the contrary and the 700m Enterprise is an undisputed fact.

When internet arrived in my country, used Bernd’s website to help me learn English.

He’s been critical of new Trek since ENT but since Star Trek came out, I fear he’s become so reactionary that it affects the quality of his starship analyses. Like the resizing of Kelvin ships, or separating Discovery content within the database, leading to entries for DSC models seen in PIC. But he’s still a great resource for ship analysis, which is probably why Eaglemoss rely on Bernd.

They also involve Jörg Hillebrand though, who is openminded about new Trek content. His speciality is observation more than analysis.

Yes, Jörg is amazing, I love his tweets!

To be fair to Bernd, he seems to have made his peace with the Abrams films and Discovery. He just compartmentalises them as alternate realities, and he's quite content with Picard and Lower Decks from what I've seen. I'm not sure why he maintains his fiction about the sizes of the Kelvin ships.

Those with long memories will recall he absolutely hated Enterprise and in particular the NX-01 design when it was first unveiled. But time's a great healer and he never mentions that any more.

I think Eaglemoss is just lazy, they weren't given sizes for those ships, so just went on line and assumed they were correct, not realizing they'd been downsized by an upset fanboy.

The Eaglemoss/HeroCollector book Star Trek: Shipyards - Starfleet Ships 2294 - The Future has arrived!
So let's get started.

NEWS 1: The foreword acknowledges the Akira class was left out of the first edition.

NEWS 2: It counts 4 Inquiry-class variants.
These are:
INQUIRY - pointed nacelles - yellow bussards - USS Zheng He NCC-86505 --> Issue 2 of the Universe Starships Collection
VARIAN FRY - pointed nacelles - red bussards - USS Varian Fry NCC-87883
TOUSSAINT - rounded nacelles - yellow bussards - USS Toussaint NCC-87111 --> Sub Gift with Issue 6 of the collection
MAUI - rounded nacelles - red bussards - USS Maui NCC-96761
Personal comment: I'd love to have all four of them as regular-sized models.

NEWS 3: USS Cerritos is depicted as 794m long. On the size chart, you can see that a Sovereign class could "park" between a Californias saucer and nacelles. Parliament-class USS Vancouver is smaller, at 641m. The Prometheus remains at a pitiful 126m - which makes no sense compared to what we saw of it on screen.
