Anybody mad about ... coffee ?

What's your favorite type of coffee ?

Needs "Flat White" adding to the poll.

I drink coffee only very occasionally when out. 90% of home produced stuff and instant coffee tastes like garbage, and besides, I really like tea.

I think one reason I've not developed a coffee habit is the "need it" comment earlier. I just don't get that. I've never, ever experienced a buzz, lift, boost to my level of awakeness nor indeed, had any difficulty sleeping after drinking even the strongest coffee.

There's been times when such a boost would've been very much appreciated, but...nada.

Maybe it's more psychological, maybe I don't react to caffeine, I don't know.
Ok.... I checked.... and let me rectify....
I just added your favorite coffee to the poll :)

Usually I only add small amounts of cream and sugar and a sprinkle of flavor. Most of the specialty variations have calories upwards of 400. Even at Dunkin Donuts I have to specify less cream and sugar because the default amount is absurdly much.

For flavour.. booze.. :D You can use rum, whisky, amareto and all kinds of other alcoholic additions, whipped cream on top.. not that I do this often but two or three times a year this is just an extra treat. :mallory::angel:

Thank you !

I note your comments on cinnamon - my wife likes cinnamon. In her coffee and in other stuff.

I absolutely can't bear the stuff !

Coffee is probably the one vice I absolutely couldn't live without.
My brew of choice is either French roast or espresso, whole bean, freshly ground. If the latter, a double shot, sometimes with sugar. If the former, then either black or with a quality nondairy creamer (e.g. coconut or soy milk based).
I like my coffee strong. Brown water is not for me...

I have a cup of coffee every day, usually first thing in the morning before I head out to work. On my days off, I may have two or more. I'm 100% instant, nothing remotely fancy, and mostly with just sugar. Every once in a while, I'll have a nondairy creamer, but that's really only once in a while. I'll alternate between a traditional blend on my workdays and a Columbian blend on my off days. Alternating that way keeps me from being tired of both.

Ironically, when I used to work in a grocery store--and wasn't drinking coffee at the time--I used to open up and empty large bags of different-flavored coffees into the bulk dispenser bins. I used to get hit full force with the aromas (and some of the fresh oils) of the beans each time. So depending on which bags I opened, I sometimes smelled like French Roast, Columbian, House Blend, or Hazelnut. Couldn't tell you how many times customers walked past me, took a sniff, and suddenly wanted coffee...
:scream:

^ They probably thought you did that on purpose.

In fact, since I do work in a grocery store, that's actually a great idea for a promo... :shifty:

Actually, I wonder if this would work:

I don't use sugar, I like my coffee black, but I do like a sweet biscuit or a peanut covered in chocolate or cocoa - with the black coffee.

Of course without the milk.
Julius Meinl makes great coffee by the way if you buy this from your supermarket or it happens that you're in Europe somewhere...
I like this one .... a bit more tastier than the Prasident variant:

I also knew a woman from my neighborhood who worked in one of these coffee houses. Her main job was to roast coffee..... I remember she always had a bleeding nose since she couldn't stand the strength of the coffee...:mallory: I guess you get one of those if you work with coffee all day long.

Have to say that I had the Irish Coffee and the Hot Boozy Coffee from the following list...., but I have to admit that the "Colorado Bulldog" recipe looks tempting too :)
Coffee with Booze

Was never a coffee drinker. Tried to drink black coffee straight up when I was nearing adulthood but didn't like it. I drink Frappuccinos, or Frappes as McDonald's calls them, but I don't feel like that makes me coffee drinker. It would be like calling yourself an alcohol connoisseur while only consuming pina coladas.

I’m looking forward to trying it with Frangelico. Amaretto and Irish Creme are great though.

What about tiramisu ? The coffee based cake ....
Tried it a few times..... not everyone can make it as it should be made...

Had a Austrian gf, she could make good one, my brother can make an incredible one..:D:mallory:
I can cook many things.... even bought this Chinese wok pan, but I was never good with cakes or sweets....
It seems women are more gifted on this chapter :)

who was the other irish guy/girl?

Just read a few months ago about the most expensive coffee in the world... called Kopi Luwak....made from partially digested coffee cherries defecated by the Asian civet :)

So a Kopi Luwak coffee cup might cost you somewhere between 40 to 90 $....
Maybe it's worth trying ...

in my book it's just to show off how much money you have and certainly not worth the expenditure - i won't buy it again (gave it three chances and it lost all three of them)

Never had the chance to taste it..... but I don't think it's too late.....
Of course you could buy a few quality coffee packs for that money :techman:
