Just feels too militaristic for Starfleet. Maybe that censoring is actually there. Similar to the Futurama black bar machine

Jet appeared (twice) as a full Lieutenant in Season 1, but they retconned him into an Ensign for this episode. Turns out, he just really likes corn.

I thought the censoring was for eventual "Network TV" showing and to not get pushed into a higher "Maturity Rating" label.

Because we are not mature enough for cartoon nudity yet. :)

Yes, that was me. This came up last year when the show premiered. So here's the thinking behind it: It's basically a measure to keep this a more peaceful place. I know, we're just grading episodes of a TV show here, but nevertheless I want this to be a free and fair voting, which to me means that it should be secret. I guess this might seem silly to some, but we have definitely enough animosity among posters from opposite camps as it is and I don't feel we should additionally feed that animosity by revealing who rated an episode high or low. I want people to vote their mind safely without being called out for it, so I would rather we keep the voting secret. I totally understand being curious about it, but I personally feel it contributes to a calmer atmosphere and I would just hope that you understand my thinking behind that. Most of the time people will post their score in the thread anyway. But then it's their own choice. :)

Regarding the possibility to change your vote later on, I have no strong feelings about this, so I will just go ahead and activate that feature. :)

Why did that alien collector guy have an Earth accent? He grew up in Jersey or something’?

Boimler getting demoted was weird and nonsensical.

The guy turned into a puppet was just so odd. It just made me laugh.

As usual the episode was very frentic. It’s mostly enjoyable but I’ll have to get used to it being a little too much because I do enjoy the stories and characters a lot.

The humor was better this week so it’s an 8.

7 for me. Raised a smile here and there and I really liked the command pip/corn gag but I don't feel LDS has had a 'great' episode so far. Still, there's plenty to come. Now Boimler is back on board I feel we are in for better stuff. Half the appeal of the show is the Mariner/Boimler dynamic.

It says it all about the writing on this show that they tease a big shift and storyline for Boimler in season 2 and then immediately walk it back, two episodes in.

As narratively all over the place as most of the new Trek shows unfortunately

Well they aren't done yet. There's two versions of Boimler now, one clearly not that happy to be back on the Cerritos. Plus the other one seems quite gregarious. I think we've seen a TOS style transporter split where each has ended up with a bit of Boimler or maybe Riker has evil Boimler on the Titan now?

It'd certainly explain why one 'clone' didn't volunteer.

Talk about jumping the gun. How about watch the other 8 before you judge?

I will, but the continued aping of past Trek is really getting annoying. The show offers very little 'new'.

It sounds like you're just easily annoyed. It's supposed to be a fun show. It isn't aping. It's satirising.

I liked this one a lot.

My biggest criticisms of the episode would've been Mariner's characterization and the badass Titan officers who thought the E-D was lame... but those were actually addressed in the episode itself.

Poor giant clone Spock. We hardly knew you.

I may have cracked a smile at the Kahless Sex Helmet.

Pretty tedious. Last week was okay, but I really didn't care for this episode. Sentiment about where it was early season 1.

I'm not sure the references are enough for me.

This was fun. Spock II skeleton sighting! Loved seeing the sonic showers. I'm hopeful we'll still get to check in on the Titan from time to time. I don't really need a Will/Deanna Riker series, but I wouldn't mind seeing them represent the more adventurous part of Starfleet every now and then. Plus, William Boimler. :D

I had assumed that the Borg Boimler was a dream or Holodeck sequence... but now I'm wondering if William Boimler is going to wind up assimilated.

Joking aside, we know for sure what was the common view about public nudity during TNG? Obviously it was being broadcast on a network and so they couldn't show people completely naked in the corridors of the Enterprise, but in theory, would there be some problem?

That's how I see it. If Boimler hadn't transferred to the Titan, he would have remained an ensign on the Cerritos, IMO. Captain Freeman maybe could have created a special billet for Boimler so he could have remained a lieutenant jg, but if she didn't have to...
