Hadn’t he commandeered a runabout with Keiko O’Brian’s school kids aboard? I could have swore…I kept hoping there would be a scene where Garak had to say: “I’ve changed my mind! I’m going to let her die!”
No such luck.
Growing a beard isn't inherently logical. Logic is a thinking tool. IF one's goal is less energy expended on grooming, then it would be logical not to shave.
Beards, however, are itchy and require care not to get nasty. So if one's goal were to be not itchy or have to expend care on a beard, it would be logical not to have one.
What are one's values/goals? Then we can determine if a course of action is logical or not, yes?
Perhaps he didn't want crumbs in his beard, so it was easier to shave.
You're not likely to get crumbs on your chest hair.
It's what I do, and I'm willing to bet real money that I'm not the only man who does.Where's the logic in shaving your chin but not your chest?

You've clearly never been single and alone on a weekend night with a box of Ritz crackers.
I wouldn't say having hair on your chest is a bad thing..... because as a man it makes you look masculine.Where's the logic in shaving your chin but not your chest?
