What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Maybe the Vulcans somewhere along the line decided that shaving is logical.
They have their own cultural norms just like any other species... so it wouldn't be that out of place (considering they also practice relatively 'barbaric' rituals to resolve Ponn Far).
At any rate, Vulcan logic has its quirks... and humans have challenged them on occasion.

Which would help explain why Sybok grew one. He eschewed logic so he embraced the symbols of his people's ancestors. Facial hair being one.

... Alien men have beards, women don't. Alien women typcially have more ornate hairstyles and long nails than the men. Heck, even Saru's sister had pinker lips!...

That's because the Startrek authors are not only trapped in an unconscious but omnipresent anthropomorphism but also machismo (IE male-female stereotyping) as well otherwise you'd have a harder time identifying alien genders.

I mean. it's a visual shorthand so it makes sense, if a bit lazy. Just like monocultures. Irritating but understandable.

I liked the reboot Trek movies and Beyond was the best of the three.
Discovery era Klingons were the best looking Klingons.
I liked all of Enterprise and the Temporal Cold War I liked a lot. Daniels was cool.
I like Discovery season 2 and the red angel plot line.

DSC Klingons would be fine if they were shown in the series to be a subset within the Klingon Empire and we also saw TOS Style Augment Klingons and TNG Era ones for variety. But nope.

I get that but I just like the look they created, if only Vulcans had been given another redesign to look a bit more alien too.

Yes, but how often does the gender of the alien in question matter unless one of the regulars is going to snog/boink them?

Good for both of us. Neither do I. But if you're going to HAVE a vast ficitonal universe show more of it. Empires aren't monolithic entities where every subject looks or behaves identically.

It's the entertainment and wow factors. Show me cool things we haven't yet seen in these fictional species and expand on what we already know. Variety in fiction is rarely if ever a bad thing. And every era of Trek has been lazy when it comes to this.

For what it's worth, I agree with each one of those (though I think the red angel plot lost its way at the end).

Because all fans want is comfortable and familiar.

Lately (even though Discovery happens before TOS) it seems Vulcans started growing beards and Klingons losing hair :) At least in Kurtzman's concept....

Lately?

Plummer is an exception ....
He is bald because he lost his hair in battle.
He was caught by a group of Romulan rebels and scalped long before The Undiscovered Country :)
