What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Yes, I believe it was. He was switched with the other Lorca with the transporters of the Buran, the same way Kirk and team were... later actually. He then apparently got the Buran to self-destruct, probably because the others saw that he wasn't the real Lorca, and managed to get assigned to the Discovery, one of two ships that could get him back to his universe.

Which episode because I'm watching season 1 to 3 again and so far I like Lorca in season 1 but which episode is the switch explained?

Ye old jolly fat person stereotype. It's been around forever.
Yup. They did it to Bustopher Jones in the movie too with James Corden. I and my daughter, a big Cats fan and also very attuned to women's issues, were more ticked about Rebel Wilson being female buffoon. She is a funny person I think, but the heavy-person-has-to-be-clown gets old and seems especially insulting to women. Maybe I'm wrong.

I dunno that suggesting Discovery is a parallel universe is that controversial anymore as plenty of the fanbase (myself included) believe that or something similar.
.... and I forgot mentioning .... the other controversial fact was Bearded Spock :)
As far as I remember he was always using the razor blade in The Original Series....

He was in his final Discovery appearence, and in the forthcoming series Strange New Worlds:techman:

It's kind of strange that Vulcans bother to shave isn't it? It's more...logical...that they would just grow hair, minimizing time for grooming.

Even Syrran the radical Vulcan who was looking to restore Surak's original teachings through the Kir'shara was clean-shaven. He had long, unkempt hair but no beard.

Since we're talking about beards I just remembered about Jim Carrey coming to Jimmy Kimmel's show and everyone was wondering about his beard..... look what he answered: (keep in mind to forward the video until minute 2:30 till the end of the video)....
Very funny lol :

Yup. Just like I think TMP is in an alternative universe too.

sure, why not. Just like “Parallels” showed there are millions of different Quantum Realities where the differences can be as tiny as a yellow cake compared to a chocolate cake or as big as the Bajorans conquering the Cardassians.

Vulcans seem to give a lot of attention to their grooming and also ornate clothing. Look at some of the 23rd century Vulcan women's hairstyles (and their fancy fingernails). It all shows that they have an appreciation for aesthetics.

Vulcans have always demonstrated an appreciation for cleanliness, well kept appearance and order.

You can notice that one each Vulcan female : Sakonna, Valeris and T'Pol....all clean and tidy.
I believe Scarlet Johansson or Laura Linney would look great as Vulcan females if someone would just think for a minute and give them a role in Star Trek :)

I remember Laura Linney from Frasier.

Maybe the Vulcans somewhere along the line decided that shaving is logical.
They have their own cultural norms just like any other species... so it wouldn't be that out of place (considering they also practice relatively 'barbaric' rituals to resolve Ponn Far).
At any rate, Vulcan logic has its quirks... and humans have challenged them on occasion.

I just wish the shows were a tad more imaginative than to constantly portray the features and grooming of alien races so close to human norms and cultural conventions. Alien men have beards, women don't. Alien women typcially have more ornate hairstyles and long nails than the men. Heck, even Saru's sister had pinker lips!

I get Spock having a beard cuz he's half human, but I'd have made all true Vulcans beardless, etc.
