What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

If the Starfleet surplus store is anything like today's remaining army surplus stores, then it just sells a bunch of cheaply made ripoffs, and not actual surplus stuff that the official service got rid of.

If you do some time in the Army and are acquainted with someone from the Quartermaster service you can get the real thing, at least in my country. I got a few pairs of army boots that lasted a long time.

I liked his TMP uni, so I heartily endorse.

Am reminded of a time McDonald's was retooling their unis and they said they wanted them to be things the "team members" would want to wear in their off hours! Ha ha.

One of my controversial opinions is that Star Trek: TMP is a decent film. Yeah, it's more about special effects than a great storyline but I like the music and the 'new' Enterprise and I still enjoy the threesome of Kirk, Spock and McCoy, even if there's a bit less of it than I'd like.

The scene where Kirk sees the new Enterprise for the first time - whilst traveling there with Scotty - does go on a bit too long though.

Indeed, there's a lot of staring at things in that movie. We get the Kirk stare, the Sulu stare, the Chekov stare, the Uhura stare...etc everybody gets a piece of that.

I think it's a good movie as well. Maybe not on the level of its three successors, but worth pulling out every now and then.
