I was disappointed when Tate was cast, thinking she’d be too broad and played for laughs. But ended up loving the character. Same as Nardole; both performers showed that they’re not “just” comedy actors but very talented people in any role.
You could add Bradley Walsh to that, though perhaps to a lesser extent.
Yeah, though Bradley proved he could act ages ago in Coronation Street
Yes and I think if you look back at Tate's experience she started as an actor before moving into comedy

Not really - I don't send many anyway.
It's not just me - I know other people that can't abide Tate.
I found it hard to watch while she was in it. It's a perfect storm of unfunny, unlikeable and annoying. Having Cribbins in it helped though.

Tho at 92, could he handle the schedule?Maybe a full season of the Anthology Doctor.....Amalgam Doctor? A different actor every episode. It could use up regenerations or just in a state of flux for a while, but it wouldn't matter since the Doc is now infinite.

Had circumstances been slightly different, Cribbins might have been cast as the 4th Doctor! He WAS one of those considered...until they learned of Tom Baker.
Would have been very interesting. As much as Tom is my Doctor, I wish there had been some tape showing Bernard doing a rehearsal or reading for the part (like the Bojold as Janeway material). But I doubt the Beeb would have used any of their uber-magical tape for that

It's absolutely unbelievable that it wasn't canned when the early episodes were shown to a test audience, let alone when the crew watched the daily rushes.
It's worse than cringeable.
