According to IGN's list of stuff coming to HBO Max in August, they will be adding Lois & Clark on Tuesday. Never seen it, so I'm thinking I might take advantage of this to finally check it out.

Ultimately, it’s perhaps my least favorite Superman TV series, but that’s like calling it my least favorite pizza. Its main fault is leaning a bit too hard into unfunny camp and silliness at a few points in its later seasons; few things are more painful than failed comedy. But when it's good, it's very good: romantic, sexy, sentimental, witty, and charming.

The first season is the best, and features John Shea’s wonderful turn as Lex Luthor. Dean Cain is a great Clark, though less convincing as Superman. Hatcher is a funny, frenetic force as Lois, although her characterization is a little neurotic for my taste, the better to fit the template of a rom-com heroine. And Lane Smith is a terrific Perry White, reimagined as having a quirky obsession with Elvis Presley (with the traditional “Great Caesar’s ghost!” replaced by “Great shades of Elvis!”).

Thanks for the info. I know it wasn't always great, but it's one of the few Superhero shows I've never seen any of before.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they eventually add the '90s Flash and Superboy series too.
I've seen is the first episode of The Flash, but it was ages ago, and I don't remember it. I'm not even sure if I saw all of it or just part of it. Fairly early in the run of the current Flash series the CW added it to their website, but by the time I got around to starting it, they pulled it. Never seen any of Superboy.

The 90s Flash got moved & pre-empted alot, so when it came out on DVD I bought it to see all the eps I missed. It was fun! Very 90s in lots of ways. But IMO the *best* part was Mark Hamill as The Trickster! Once I finally saw those eps, I saw how he got the part of The Joker on Batman TAS.

They've posted a preview of the first issue of Superman '78 on the DC website.
Looks pretty good.

The 90s Flash got moved & pre-empted alot, so when it came out on DVD I bought it to see all the eps I missed. It was fun! Very 90s in lots of ways. But IMO the *best* part was Mark Hamill as The Trickster! Once I finally saw those eps, I saw how he got the part of The Joker on Batman TAS.

I am a little surprised they haven't done more to promote the '90s Flash, with the new show making so many callbacks, you'd think they'd want make more people aware of it, so they can see where all of that stuff came from.

I only really like the first two seasons of Lois & Clark. I can’t remember but I think I stopped watching in the third season. Also I liked the first Jimmy Olsen better than his replacement.

Hopefully now with Smallville coming out on blu-ray so will Lois & Clark too.

Six onwards currently, but a complete series Blu-ray collection was just announced for 10/19.

The first year was marvelous and a refreshing comedic take on the couple.

They retooled the show in the second year and then it sucked.

I'm ashamed to admit I wrote a much longer, even more shameless LOST IN SPACE/EXORCIST hybrid on another TREK board in which Father Zachary had to de-possess the Robot after the unexpected death of Father Lankester Bloop.

Speaking of Superman, Lois and Clark is now on HBO Max in HD. Although the VFX are still in SD or have been upscaled.

I started a rewatch last night. Great chemistry and writing but the journalism in the show is laughable, speaking as a former newspaper reporter. It's very Hollywood. Although I wished I worked in a newsroom as nice as the one in L&C!

Had to get past how horrible Dean Cain has become, but I still enjoy his take on Clark. Hatcher's Lois is adorable, but man she just doesn't feel like a go-getter reporter. More like the lovelorn Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane from the Silver Age comics. But the sexual tension between them is what really makes this show. It's Moonlighting meets Superman after all.

But the rest of the cast is still amazing. Lane Smith is pitch-perfect as White. Tracy Scoggins is the perfect vamp as Cat. Too bad she didn't make it past the first season.

Jimmy is still a rather forgettable character. The first actor better than his replacement, however. I also forgot that they tried to make Jimmy "cooler" by having him be juvie kid.

For a show with a female showrunner, there's a lot of sexism in the first season. Women are constantly at odds with themselves for having careers instead of boyfriends. And getting married is seen as the ultimate endgame for the female characters. Lois bursts into tears a lot in the face of danger, pining she'll die alone never meeting her true love.

The brief moments of journalism are even more laughable on Supergirl. In one episode, she files her story in a college report binder. Like whut? And then she wins a journalism award, yet we never see her doing any reporting? Also what the hell does CatCo exactly do... is it a magazine, a cable news network, a radio station?

Yeah, this would be TV in the 90s...

Very much so. Take Dr. Quinn, a show I enjoy... everyone fears that Dr. Mike may die alone as a single, unwed mother. Heaven forbid!
