News He-Man anime series from Kevin Smith coming to Netflix

What makes you think that? Clickbait YouTubers don't speak for the fans, and never have. They're just a bunch of assholes who over-exaggerate drama for views.
I read some negative "reviews" on the MOTU reddit and it was enough, thanks.

EDIT: And fortunately they cancelled the very offensive ones.

And the haters now apparently have made it their mission to "punish" Kev by disliking all his YT videos. He just put up a video about the opening night of his Smodcastle theater, which has nothing to do with MotU (if I didn't miss it, MotU wasn't even mentioned), but somehow this very uncontroversial video got almost a hundred more dislikes than likes, and every second comment is to the tune of "You lying piece of shit ruined a classic, good luck earning money on Clerks 3 now that I won't pay to see it".

My personal favorite of these comments is referring to the poster to the "Vegan Abattoir" podcast he does with his daughter:

"There's literally a vegan poster behind him...

The guy who made all those movies we loved died a long time ago. And the saddest thing is, Clerks 3 probably gonna be even worse than Jay n Silent Bob reboot"

Yeah, some truly reasonable people that Kev really has to apologize to.

And someone should still explain to me exactly what he should apologize for. At least the toxic Star Wars fandom has the excuse that the Original Trilogy is composed by, well, good movies.

But here?!? "What you did doesn't live up to a 40 year old toys commercial! We are FURIOUS!!!"

"Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't remake an old cartoon scene by scene where a blue-eyed blonde rescued his damsel from a very, very dark-skinned villain who wanted to do bad things. I'll do better next time and I'll also remember to insert an offensive racial Asian stereotype "

How, exactly, is Stranger Things representative of nostalgia?

My question still stands.

The appeal of Stranger Things is the story and characters, not the setting.

I showed these comments to my wife, who watches the show, she laughed at you.

This is how “Stranger Things” weaponized ’80s nostalgia in the 2010s, and pulled in viewers born decades after the heyday of food courts, arcades and cassette tapes.

This is advice that no sane person should give or accept. And if that was truly the key to success, then Snake On A Planes should have grossed more than Avatar.
Well I agree if one wants to keep their sanity. But if one wants to predict how people will react to your product one should. We should then pray and wish them well for the sacrifice of their own sanity in order to help the marketing department best promote their shows and movies. It's a terrible job but someone has to do it.. It even requires you to read all YouTube comments.:)

Smith seems to be fanning the flames of all this stuff and they're ready to eat that up in return. Maybe being a fanboy for so long makes it hard to just ignore which would likely be a wiser course of action. I think they probably love that they have a target willing to engage and may be true of Smith as well.

If I could get 250K subscribers peddling this crap maybe I should consider it. What was it in the later Clerks movie, moviepoop.com?

Do you think that controversy isn't helping promote the series? I think you overestimate the influence of the incels.

God, we should totally do a parody Youtube media review channel - Celluloid Incels*. See how many of the dullards we could rope in and monetize the thing, send all the ad revenue to some cause they'd hate.

*I know, nothing's on celluloid any more. It's still good.

And according to the Internet, Snake on Planes should have been a phenomenal success.
Hey I liked the movie and Samuel Jackson talking about being tired of These Morherfucking Snakes is still kind of a memorable moment people still remember. I do think fan outage does tend to also have more success with tv than movies. Tv shows can make it with niche appeal. Any hub hub gets people kind of curious and can break through all the other shows. Plus if you don't like it you just switch the channel. Movies though you basically got to convince large numbers of people to get off their asses and comfort of home and spend tons of money at a building where other people their might be assholes like talking on their phones during the movie.

If the controversy is helping to promote the series than they do seem to have some influence (even if it's the opposite of what they want). I was just saying that Smith is helping to feed it, for better or worse, not that it's hurting the series necessarily. My comment about a wiser course of action I guess depends on what he's getting from the interaction, maybe he enjoys it. Personally, I find all of the trolling and reverse trolling tiresome but YMMV.
