Yeah, I'm very curious to see what people like Stephen Colbert will think of the LOTR series. From some of the articles I've read, it sounds Tolkien didn't go into a ton of details about the era it takes place in, but fans still tend to get their own ideas that they get attatched too and they expect stuff like the to follow, even if it's not actually in the books themselves.

Whoever wrote that for IGN obviously never read the books. So many errors in one quick piece....
Tons of other pieces being released now too, I'm not gonna bother linking them. All are positive so far.
Edit: I just read the Forbes one. Wow. That was bad.

I expect the condescension from Forbes, but you'd think Polygon would at least have someone on their staff that would point out they spelled the names of both the characters AND DIRECTOR wrong.
Wow, the IGN article refers to the Harkonnens as "alien overlords." So much groan right now.
Technically, that's accurate.
It's accurate only if you chose a sense of the word "alien" that does not conform to the norms of the genre. In other words, no it isn't accurate.

From how bad they screwed up in the rest of the article, I wouldn't be surprised if IGN meant aliens aliens....

I guess that they don’t employ fact checkers.
I think they slapped it together last minute with little interest beyond clicks. So, what I expect from most reporting sites.
To be fair they’re not real journalists.
I don't think I would even consider them that on a generous day.
Well, then they need another month to get that whole positivity thing down.
I try not to get bothered by articles and news that get basic facts wrong, i just wonder, on a professional level, if those writers who get the assignment to write an article even bother doing a 5 minute Wikipedia check to get at least the basic facts right.
One can't expect to have an entertainment website writer to have read every cult book/comic that exists and is being turned into a movie or show but it doesn't take long to check before you write.

Hell, I do that for my posts here. It's pathetic professionals can't be bothered for anything that's going to be published and read by a lot of people.
Writers and editors checking the basic accuracy of what's being posted is a basic requirement of their jobs...
