And drawing shuttles with the hatch open while in space, and using various photo references for character art that doesn't match panel to panel and using photo ref for aliens interchangeably. (eg: using multiple Cardassian characters to represent a single one in the comic.

That's so annoying. They should pay comic artists to come up with their own stuff, not steal other people's work.

It also appears as if the main body of that design derives from a NuBSG Battlestar. :wtf:

Well, there was a very Battlestar-like design in the old Spaceflight Chronology, so it wouldn't be the first time BSG has "inspired" Trek EU materials.

Got a Norway-class today (odd how it's one of the only Fed ships they just call by the class and not the actual name on the model - USS Budapest...). I'd never realised quite how... flat... the underside of the saucer is, like the NX-01 but even moreso). And the two shafts that the pylons spring from really do seem like they should be connected somehow. They LOOK (but aren't) flimsy. Rest of the order was Ghosbusters stuff (Slimer badge and Back Off Man, I'm A Scientist! mug) to make up to free delivery. My Tholian Recluse was a pre-order.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was connected to time constraints.

I was reading a Superman comic from 2010 that used two modified Star Wars designs in the first volume.

Star Wars comics are also guilty of this, from tracing fan art (and sometimes original fan designs) to using designs from other franchises, like one issue of a comic had Atlantis from Stargate Atlantis as the core of a space station.

It seems to happen all over the industry.

Huh, I thought it was just IDW guilty of that.

That " bubble and ring" shape also shows up in STO as the Krenim research lab (and later your own Fleet research lab after you upgrade it).

Indeed, both the Norway and Voyager designs resemble the TOS Battlestar "alligator on skis" aesthetic.

That doesn't quite excuse the theft.

Has anyone picked up the AFS Khitomer yet? I’m quite keen to see in-hand pics of it, when they become available.

    I do like it a lot! :)

I'm holding off on the STO ships for a while until I finish up some of the other lines. They'll always be there to get.

I've got it. Previously, I had it 3D-printed by GamePrint, so I got to compare my two models.
I'm too old-fashioned for Imgur and stuff. Are you part of the Eaglemoss fan group on Facebook? There's pix there.

Thanks so much - these look great!

Loving the AFS Khitomer - and right now it’s top of my EM collecting list!

About a week ago, I bought another ship from my local store. It was definitely in the vein of "buying something for the sake of buying something". I went with the "Alice" shuttle.

It's been a while since I saw the episode. I couldn't find any relevant clips on Youtube and can't be bothered to cue up the episode on Netflix. That makes it hard to speak to how accurate the model is.

I will say the design pretty stubby. It's as wide as it is long, which doesn't make for anything graceful. As I said it's been a while, but maybe the point was that only Paris could see it's appeal.

According to the magazine, they had to modify one of the full-size shuttles from ST5, which probably limited what they could do with it. Personally, I think they should've recycled the Nenebeck shuttle from "Final Mission" and "Gambit". It's not really any more graceful, but at least it would've looked more alien.

So I guess that'll do until they open up the Canadian site again.
