Terran Empire TMP Era Kitbashes

Hello there, new member here.

I'd just like to show off my kitbashes of Terran Empire Movie Era ships. This all started for me last December when I got a 3d resin printer and started looking for things to print. Then I found one guy that did a Miranda-Constitution kitbash... and then things started to snowball from there.

I don't make my own models, I don't have the talent for it. But I do get inspired by a lot of previous work and I can kitbash the hell out of things. With a little mesh tweeking here and there in a modeling program. I never claim to do my own work.

When I try to make a new Terran design, I take the basic Starfleet ship and try to cram as much mega phasers and rollbars as I can without making it look ugly or rediculous. My first attempt was of a Constitution dreadnought with too many torps. I've gotten better.

I do my own textures. I decided that TE ships should be a light rust color with heavy aztec'ing on the hull panels instead of the light blue/white pearlescent color on starfleet ships. I've had these 3d models for 15+ years but only recently have I started using them in my art.

That's a great variety, and I like a lot of them. I think the Nimitz is my favorite though. Hard to pick.

I made a TE version of the Ark Royal class carrier.

This started off as a very low-poly model I found, probably from some sort of game. So I went to work tripling the amount of facets and rounding off hard corners. Adding a grid on the saucer wasn't the most time consuming part, it was putting in the physical windows. My program wasn't doing booleans correctly, so I had to add the windows by hand, it took 3+ hours. The textures took the better part of a 2nd day of working. Not all the textures worked out right. There are some problems in the lower hull around the deflectors I couldn't fix without taking out the text on the spine. The last time I spent this much time on a ST model was fixing up a Enterprise-F a friend of mine made for a ST:O contest many years ago.

Size is 550m x 350m x 113m

She's a big bitch for a TMP era ship.
