Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

It would be really sad, if out of the entire universe, we are the smartest beings. There might be a lot of smart individual people, but as a collective, humans are really fucking dumb.

It could be a universal law that the beings at the top of the evolutionary scale would be the most destructive of the environment and ultimately the doom of the planet as a life-supporting system.

And then you ask for the Senior Discount and no one asks to see proof of your age. Like being "uncarded".

For a while, I used to live in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, so I've long known that Kitchener used to be called Berlin, prior to changing their name during World War I.

However, thanks to Wikipedia's featured article for today, I just learned that they managed to dodge a bullet 104 years in advance, because one of the other name choices on the ballot was "Corona"! I wonder, if they had gone that way back then, would they be looking at another name change referendum now? ;)

(And seriously, "Adanac"? "Hey, I know, why don't we just spell 'Canada' backwards?", and somehow that made it onto the ballot! Although to be fair, the palindromic branding that could have come out of that could have been cool. ;) )

Most people who say my name for the first time mispronounce it and if I don't correct them, they'll keep doing it forever. In fact, there is a short period of time during which I have to correct them or they'll keep mispronouncing it even after they've been given the correct pronunciation.
