Those parallels were made much more explicit in Star Trek - Gods and Men.Gary was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force...

Sure, he'd be greedy and narcissistic and grow away from them, but to instantly look at them as insects and kill Kelso?
Spock says that delta Vega is "a few light-days distant," but we don't know if their impulse power in this situation gives them .9 of lightspeed or .01. This episode could have (I'm not saying it should have) taken months to occur.
I actually started a tongue-in-cheek thread with that theory a few years back. You can read it here:Gary was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force...
In my ST chronology, I have the episode spanning from May 24th to June 2nd of 2265. Once I placed it in May, I decided to give it the start and end dates of the shooting dates of "The Corbomite Maneuver" as a tribute. And one week seemed enough time, considering both the travel times and the exponential growth of Gary's power.KIRK: "Earth bases which were only days away are now years in the distance."
That was the first five year mission right there.
But seriously, this episode could absolutely have taken weeks.

And it's why he did the remasters - but said he'd NEVER release a cleaned up HD Blu-Ray of the ORIGINAL 1977 version of the film, because he'd have to PAY money to his ex-wife for it; and no for George the breakup wasn't amicable. (she got rights as part of the divorce settlement.)The book also describes Luke as 18 years old, and Leia as 16. So much for "Twins."
My wife made an excellent point about the films. Lucas's wife, Marcia won an oscar for editing on the original "Star Wars"
She contributed greatly to the creation of the storyline. But, when they got divorced, he would have had to pay her for everything that she contributed. So, he rewrote it all.
My god, it’s full of stars.
I don’t suppose you’ve read the novel, then; or enjoyed the bonhomie shared by like-minded people making agreeable, if subtle, pop-cultural references regardless of its fidelity to one’s preferred source material.Actually, that was never said... It had been retconned in the movie 2010.

So, beam me up, Scotty. Because it’s elementary, my dear Watson. Judy! Judy! Judy! you dirty rat, you killed my brother!
Some pictures are worth a thousand onomatopoeia.

I no longer understand a word of this thread.
