When was the last time?

I am currently listening to a book ‘21st Century Dodos: A Collection of Endangered Objects (and Other Things) by Steve Slack.

As this is a British book there are quite a few objects/things that I know nothing about but I thought I would ask a couple of questions about things I am familiar with.

1) When was the last time you made a phone call from a phone box/public phone?
2) When was the last time you watched a VHS tape?

I might ask more questions later.

I think the last time I used a public phone was in about 2009.

The last time I watch a VHS was before I lived in the house I now live in so I suppose it was in 2005 or 2006. I would have been either a Voyager or Deep Space Nine episode.

another question -

When was the last time you used a typewriter (if you have ever used one).
I think I would have last used one in 1990.

1. Mid-2000s in college, I think.
2. Maybe around the same time?
Typewriter, not sure. Maybe 1996. After that I had my first computer and printer, which were obsolete second-hand stuff. An 8088 DOS machine and a loud daisy wheel printer that sounded like a typewriter.

It's hard enough remembering what I yesterday. :p

1.>The early noughties I think.

2.>Late nineties/early noughties.

I can't remember when I last used a pay phone. Probably sometime in the late 1990s.

I had a VHS player/recorder and a collection of VHS cassettes until 2005 or so.

The last time I used a typewriter was probably in 1999 or 2000, before I got my first home computer. I learned touch-typing in seventh grade, on big, clunky manual typewriters like the ones you see in offices and newsrooms in old movies.
Never used a typewriter.
Believe me, you haven't missed anything. I always hated those clumsy, messy machines. But at the time, the only alternative was writing in longhand.

2) When was the last time you watched a VHS tape? - A couple of months ago when I was backing up old stuff.

As for a typewriter, probably 2004ish (at work) as setting up the printer to print in the right place in these forms we'd been sent were a pain, but lining up the typewriter wasn't so bad.

I have finished the book so I will ask one last question

Have you ever received a telegram and if you have when was the last time you received one?

I received my one and only telegram in 1975. It was from the unemployment office telling me to phoned them. I phoned them as soon as I got the telegram but was told that it was about a job but the job had been filled and I should have contacted them earlier.

I can't recall ever receiving a telegram, but I did send them a few times. My brother and I sent a gag birthday telegram to our mother sometime in the late 1960s, and I sent a couple of telegrams from Israel when I lived there in the early '80s (it was cheaper than a phone call).

I still occasionally send and receive faxes, but now they're e-faxes.

VCR--2006
Typewriter--1995, maybe.
Public Phone--2000, or thereabouts.
Never received a telegram.

Public phone, probably sometime around 2007 before I carried a cell all the time.

VCR, more recently, because a few movies I wanted to see never came out on DVD. La Belle Noisseuse might have been the last one. Or I think a Kiarostami film is the one that got stuck in my old VCR when it died. I still have a few VHSes sitting around of movies that just didn't come out on DVD in English. Maybe around 2015.

So you watch intellectual French movies, impressive!

I last used a typewriter about 1.5 years ago to complete NCR shipping forms. Wanted to make sure information was legible (which my handwriting is not).

I don't think I've ever used a payphone. By the time I was old enough to be on my own enough to need to make the kind of calls you'd make, I had a cellphone.

I think I might have used a type writer one or twice when I was kid, but I don't remember for sure.
Never sent or received a telegram, like with the pay phone, by the time I was old enough to send messages like that, email was around.
