Never thought of them as C's before, but I can see why you would.

It's funny how Trek details change purpose over the decades. The "impulse deflection crystal" at the top of the intermix shaft in The Motion Picture becomes the "symmetrical warp field governor" and nothing to do with the impulse drive in ENT, a sensor array at the front of the dome in The Motion Picture becomes the bridge window in ST'09, and those three circles often considered a saucer deflector in TOS technical publications are the conference room windows according to Discovery season 2.

I mean nothing in the series says they’re the same thing

Yeah, I was going to say it had never occurred to me they were supposed to be the same feature.

Agreed. It sounds like many folks assumed that if there was a big blue crystal exposed on the outside of both ships that they must necessarily serve the same function. I admit to having been one of those people in the beginning, when I first saw it, then when I read somewhere that the crystal on the NX had a different name I was like... okay. :)

Well clearly Doug took the crystal from TMP and thought it would look cool on the NX's pod, without a thought to it's original intent and function. Ditto the sensor dome atop the saucer in TMP becoming an observation dome atop the plaza in the Kelvin movies.

Drexler probably just didn't care about non-canon material.

Ah, I found the other Bonaventure model image I was looking for: https://twitter.com/BretLonsway/status/986317793527119872

Agreed! I had both ships made by GamePrint. I named the Gemini-class "USS Bonaventure NCC-1000", too!

It always seemed odd to me since he used to contribute to (both licensed and unlicensed) Trek books which obsessed on such details.

Yeah all of a sudden, last month, everything broke loose with them once they got their new warehouse up and running. They're finally filling in the holes I've had from the main line, I finally got the Disco Worker Bee and I just received the final issue of the BTTF DeLorean build. The new facility is using different shipping labels too. My credit card has been pretty well hammered these past couple of months. Seems they're making up for lost time!

Hi, has anyone received the Nebula Class XL? I am interested in getting one, but I am waiting for the review.

I just got my very first XL, the Akira Class Thunderchild and it looks great! On top of that it is in the same scale as the Aoshima 1/2000 USS Enterprise! Sweet!

I’m very interested in it as well, but as a subscriber, I probably won’t see it for another couple or three months or so. I really wish they did the original version, though. The physical studio filming model’s secondary hull was a lot more squat and compact than a Galaxy-style secondary hull, which is what this version (Bonchune) uses. Other than that, though, it’s quite nicely done.

I also recommend the Reliant XL. It’s one of the better reproductions in the XL box scale. Stay away from the XL E-A, though. The primary hull is an abysmal mess.

I have seen the E-A XL reviews on YT and was really disappointed. I might consider the Reliant XL in the future. The only Reliant I have is the ornament. I am intrigued by the Excelsior XL as well.

After the big giant seam at the back of the sensor pod tower on the regular release Nebula Class ships, I am hesitant in buying the XL outright. Yes, they used the “wrong” secondary hull and deflector in XL, but if the detail is good, with no windows out of alignment, no big mess on the markings and thrusters, and no giant seams… I will gladly buy it as my definitive Nebula Class.

Got notice my XL Nebula shipped last night. Once I get it I’ll post pics.

Probably won’t get until sometime mid to late next week I’m guessing.

Well, and that post of yours is not very kind. Considering the person who created those renderings you find so unattractive just posted in this very thread. You know, sometimes it‘s not the worst idea to just say nothing at all if you‘ve got nothing nice to say.
