What do you think of the Terminator movies?

I think she started expousing in the police station and they sent her to the psych ward as a result.

Well, it could have been smart as a way to avoid prison but once she was in the bin she could have changed her discourse for something a little more... not completely insane. Telling the psychiatrist that thinks she's crazy that he should let her go because her son is in danger is just plain dumb. Plus become violent and stab him with his own pen si even dumber.
We have someone who's smart enough to amass a fortune in weapons (remember the underground cache?) but stupid enough to insist on having the behavior of a violently insane person in an Insane Asylum!!!

You get the point?

Yes, we do. You're correct that it's a bit of a contrivance/stretch of backstory, but it almost undeniably made for a better actual film.

Compare to the Sequel Trilogy, in which having the OT heroes become failures as a matter of backstory just led to lameness and cliche. :p

Nope. She went to Mexico and started sleeping with people that she believed would teach John to be a "great military leader." Then, she went and got herself busted (via failed attempt to blow up Cyberdyne). It was almost as if everything John was brought up to believe was all made of bullshit. He hated her for that. (Or so, I'm lead to believe :) )

That's in essence what John says in the movie.

I'm not gonna lie, I kind of like Genisys. Sure, the plot is goofy and doesn't make a lot of sense. But I like the idea of John Connor becoming the villain (something I wish hadn't been spoiled in the trailer). It was cool to finally see the assault on SkyNet HQ in San Francisco. The only thing I would have changed there would be to also show the Cheyenne offensive the Resistance was pulling off at the same time.

I agree Jai Courtney was horribly miscast as Reese, but I rather enjoyed Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke as John Connor. And Arnold's always a delight in everything he's in.

Of course, if I had to rank the movies, Genisys would probably be fourth, with The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day alternating back and forth for the top two spots depending on the day, what kind of mood I'm in, and what direction the wind is blowing. Today's rankings:

1) Terminator 2: Judgment Day
2) The Terminator
3) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Do a limited run season to finish the story, dammit!!! )
4) Terminator: Genisys
5) Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
6) Terminator: Dark Fate
7) Terminator: Salvation

There's always a critic on youtube haha......

There's really not much more I can say about the movies. I watched Dark Fate one last time then shredded the disk... It's out of my memory now

I watched the first two movies and TSCC, but I skipped the other movies until Dark Fate. After I saw that, I was going to just double back and watch Genisys, because convoluted time-travel plots appeal to me, but a friend of mine insisted if I was going to watch one of the bad ones, I should watch all of them, not just the one I thought I'd enjoy. Turns out, I was right about what I'd like. I thought Terminator 3 was a complete waste of time, a worse version of Terminator 2, Salvation was inert and mediocre, and Genisys was enjoyably bugnuts and wild.

Waaaaay back, i had penned an outline & notes where the 3rd movie would basically have a Skynet of another dimension reach out and grab John and Sarah . This 2nd universe would have Miles Dyson be the human partner of Skynet, and they recruit this John and Sarah to defeat the Temrinator of a 3rd dimension. So expanding the fight against the evil SKynet across dimensions
I loved that they introduced alternate timelines in The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and ever since I've been disappointed that the movies didn't go there too.

I have to say that Terminator Genisys was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed it.

Emilia Clarke was fantastic as Sarah Connor. It was funny whenever the Schwarzenator asked Sarah, "did you mate?"

I also liked the scene where Reese found himself in the department store, needing to find clothes and sneakers to wear, just like the original Reese.

For me, the top two Terminator films are Terminator 2 and The Terminator. I rank Terminator Genisys just below the first two films.

J.K. Simmons' O'Brien character has some good lines in it, too. "Goddamn time traveling robots! Covering up their goddamn tracks!"

I would have loved to have seen a prequel movie, or at least scene, which showed how Pops spent his time from when Sarah and Reese left 1984 to when they arrived in 2017. I thought his line about working construction until "I got laid off" would've been interesting to watch
