I'll add my two cents worth of agreement to the going sentiment. As mentioned before, I tried the first two seasons and just couldn't take any more and checked out. Plenty of other stuff old and new to enjoy out there.

I like Disco about as much as I like Enterprise. Certain episodes are good, but I don't want to watch every episode.

I could say that for all of Star Trek. I don't even watch all of TOS episodes, even if that is my most favorite Star Trek of all time.

    Ah, well, nice.

There are few shows that I will watch every episode of.

I must admit that I do sometimes revisit TOS episodes that I don't like, because it seems that in my older age, I often find things about them that surprisingly are interesting.

I don't have that deal with any of the other Trek shows....but with TOS, for some reason, it's like I find some redemptive quality in every single episode.

TOS is my all-time favorite Trek series. I find "And the Children Shall Lead" almost completely unwatchable.

Yeahhhhhh........... that is a tough one. I will say though that the teaser and first act have some excellent atmospheric and creepiness stuff that is worthwhile. I also think the scene where the two redshirts get unwittingly beamed into space is pretty horrific.

The visual effects are creepy and I've loved them since I was a kid. Even the Gorgan's appearance is kind of interesting since it's criminal defense attorney Melvin Belli who defended Jack Ruby, but so much of the episode is downright bad. I will give it one huge bonus point, though. The newly-designed rec room and arboretum with the food synthesizers that dispensed ice cream.

Magic wall slots that dispense on-demand ice cream was probably my favorite Treknology when I was 5.

It's still pretty dope, if you ask me...

Nurse Chapel even explains to the children that a combination of different data cards can produce different mixed flavors. I like how even in the more budget-strapped Season 3 they tried to make the tech aboard the Enterprise seem cool and the sets look interesting.

I also noticed (all the way back when I was a kid) that the data cards for the ice cream were each multi-colored.

Yes, as much as S3 gets (unfairly) maligned, it has a very unique atmosphere and tone with the sets and tech (and even the music) that I really liked.

The lower the budget got the better the sets looked and even the uniform shirts were no longer made of velour. By the end of the series they were rayon or nylon and looked more professionally-sewn.

Yep, definitely the worst of TOS, even worse than the much maligned Spock's Brain, which at least has campy fun to give it some entertainment value. And the Children Shall Lead doesn't even have that.

I don't know; Kirk and some of the others reaction to the illusions were pretty campy fun at points.

What it does have is appallingly bad acting.

I love all 3 seasons of Discovery but...... But, but, but it does have flaws. Season 2 and 3 was where they ramped up the emotion meter to 11 and had Michael crying for various reasons and it has become somewhat of a meme after the end of season 3. I really think they overdid that slightly with the emotional thing and her crying. Other than that I love all 3 seasons so far.

Eh, maybe Sulu seeing the daggers coming at him was slightly amusing, but it's not enough to salvage that episode.

Yes, after a while it becomes almost comically amusing...

Or why is there a mirror in front of Uhura? We see the mirror BEFORE the brat does his fist thing...

but I agree it's far from enough to save this garbage of an episode.

Finally caught up with S3 myself. Discovery remains a great show, as I have espoused from the get go. There's a lot of people who poo-poo quite a bit of it, but the production value, writing/directing/acting has continued to hold up very very well. I think Burnham as hero swashbuckler is the closest we've had to James T. Kirk in the franchise, and the series is the closest to TOS in that regard, being put in No Win situations constantly. So I don't agree with the intense dislike, as this series is light years closer to the ideals of Gene Roddenberry than the feature films this century.
