News Dave Filoni promoted to Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm

Interesting. Considering how linked a lot of the upcoming projects are for Star Wars, this might be a good move to make sure they are all on the same page and at least somewhat consistent.

I really don't get what this means. Was their already a Executive Creative Director that he is replacing, or is it a new position? Wasn't he already heavily involved with at least the TV and film parts of Star Wars? I mean, he does decent to sometimes great work (The Mandalorian and parts of TCW), but also sometimes does mediocre to terrible work (Rebels, other parts of TCW).

I guess that I already thought he was in a position like this, and I doubt we'll see much change in Star Wars media. Since I like most of the live action stuff and tolerate most of the other stuff (outside of the novel division, that is just irredeemable at this point), I don't have any particularly negative thoughts about this. I'm not going to say its a great decision, but it doesn't really bother me either way. I just hope we get more of the Mandalorian quality stuff from Filoni instead of the Rebels quality stuff.

This is great news. Maybe this makes him the Pillar to Kennedy's Rick Berman. About time they got a talent who also understands Star Wars in a key leadership role. Granted I think it's also possible Kennedy will be leaving. With the new guy in charge he will likely want to select his own people for some of those jobs. Iger might have been the only reason she hasn't been replaced already since it seems they are close. Would be great to see all of Star Wars turned over to Faverau and Filoni. Heck bring Lucas back even in as an advisor. But no script approval

The only downside I see to this is that it means he's going to be somewhat less hands on when it comes to individual projects as his role will need to be more supervisory.
Let's just hope he has the same eye for recruiting talent as George did.

I now hate Filoni and feel the power has gone to his head and his work has suffered accordingly. I'm also going to cry about this being a blatant woke agenda, though fuck knows how a white man getting promoted counts as being woke.

;)

Glad to see Filoni taking on a bigger role, even if it did happen a year ago.
