My heart continues to break for Janine. That argument between her and June was brutal on both sides but Janine is right: June has lied to her. I would've forgotten about Caleb if it hadn't been for the previously on, which I actually skipped. It wasn't until her second flashback that I realized I needed to go back and rewatch those clips. June hid the painful truth from Janine and my heart will break for her all over again if and when ever see finds out.
I was wrong last week to think Janine and the others had looked past the possibility of June telling the Eyes where they were hiding. Janine rightfully confronted June about it and then blamed the deaths of Alma, Brianna and the others on June. I know she was hurting in that moment, grieving for their deaths and tired of being dragged around by June, but I also think she wasn't far from the truth. I actually thought June would own up to some responsibility, but I was wrong again. They may have moved past the conflict later on, but I won't be surprised if it comes up again.
I didn't expect to see any more flashbacks this late into the show but I'm glad we finally got to delve into Janine's past a little. I was thoroughly disgusted by the not-abortion clinic Janine first went to, not just because of the grotesque and blatant lies and fearmongering, but also because they're becoming more and more real in America. We have horrible Republicans who are pushing these Draconian laws on a state level to push for such restrictions on clinics and forcing doctors to spew bullshit, if not quite as extreme (at least not yet) as the ones the doctor was legally required to say in the second flashback. And that continues one of the core strengths of The Handmaid's Tale, following Atwood's lead: All of this reflects reality because it already has happened.
Nice to see some focus on Rita recuperating in Canada, even if she was forced to face the Waterfords individually. I was genuinely worried for a moment that she was going to get pulled right back in and feel some kind obligation to help Serena, especially after learning about Serena's pregnancy. But, thankfully, I didn't have to worry because she turned the tables and passed on the photo to Fred against Serena's own wishes. Neither of them still don't understand: It doesn't matter if they treated Rita nicely. She was still enslaved. Their property. So, once again, fuck the Waterfords. Let them destroy each other and praise Rita for throwing more fuel onto that shit fire.

Yeah, that was all kinds of fucked up and stupid and insane. I was screaming at my screen during that whole thing.INSURGENT: Sex slaves in the United States of America. Who would have thought it? Man, that's sick!
JUNE: We weren't in the USA
INSURGENT: Well, you are now. So, which one of you will be my sex slave?
JUNE: What?
INSURGENT: Our food isn't free. Someone's got to pay. But I'm not forcing you...
