There are times when I think the only reason I'm still watching The Flash is because of Danielle Panabaker and her turn as Caitlin and Frost. Last season was disappointing but understandable considering her pregnancy. I think this plotline this season has been one of the best plotlines of the series mainly because it features more Panabaker and it really does question the idea of identity without being pretentious.

While I wish we could have actually seen the Trial and that would have been a storyline this season, I really liked what we got, and Panabaker absolutely killed it as Caitlin and Frost. Frost really did become the most interesting character on this show and having her look at herself and having to make that final selfless act really did bring the character to a nice closure. Hopefully we see her again, but if not, this was a nice goodbye. However, I do feel like the life in prison with no perole seemed a little extreme. Considering what Frost has done, and even that speech at the end, I can't help but feel like her point kinda went unnoticed. Yeah she did bad things, but she has also done many great things too, and even in that speech you can see how she has changed. That verdict did seem unnecessarily harsh.

As for the Speedforce storyline, I'm still not really on board with it even though I liked Alexa. Of course Nora had to zap (Kill?) her, but she was actually an interesting character. Hopefully she's not dead.

Having now watched the newest episode ("The People v. Killer Frost"): Caitlin talks about Frost being her sister, but the way they have acted towards each other the past few weeks, am I the only one that thinks Caitlin is actually in love with Frost?

I think they've been pretty Sisterly. I also think Caitlin has found someone who can match wits on her level so maybe that has something to do with it. I don't really see a romantic bond between them.

I have mixed feelings about everything with Frost. Unless I missed something - does the public even know where she came from? Her connection to Caitlin? All of Caitlin’s close friends and coworkers are all there defending her.

Danielle plays both parts well. But it’s hard to view Frost as a separate character at all. She was another aspect of Caitlin and the split was very recent. Having her suddenly be a separate character and take a life sentence seems a way for the writers to cutout Caitlin’s criminal past. So her character can go forward as a pure and with no responsibility for those acts.

But the multiple personality, ice powers was the only interesting thing about Caitlin Snow. Not sure who she even is now. Learning she is one of the few long time cast members returning next year, no idea their plan for her now.

1. This version of Frost is a month old. She didn't do any of the crimes of the original Frost. She is physically a different person made up from with new flesh, and her personality is a copy of the original that was deleted from Caitlin's soul.

2. The original Frost is 4 years old. She has to be treated as a minor, and the worst you can do is send her to juvie until she is 18.

3. Kaitlin is a different person and not responsible for Frost's actions.

4. These versions of Frost and Caitlin both chose to experience a death of personality, when they mind-wiped themselves after Crisis and replaced chunks of their life histories with those of their earth 1 doppelgangers with Cisco's tech.

This was a pretty powerful episode, with some terrific drama and a strong message. I was more impressed than I've been by this show for a while. And it's been a while since we've seen a Flash episode with so little action in it, leaving more room to focus on the drama and interpersonal stuff.

It did have one aspect that bugged me, though, which is where a character makes a really compelling argument in a private dialogue scene (Frost's comment on the balcony about the precedent her case would set for other metas) and then fails to repeat it later when it would be the most useful in arguing their case directly. I mean, I understand the desire to avoid repetition, but then, why not save the best argument for the climax? Although at least they had the judge acknowledge that she'd already been considering the same question.

Also, when Dr. Snow informed Caitlin that the cure might kill Frost, it seems to me that they could've used that itself as the basis of their case, since it would be tantamount to execution, or at the very least would be cruel and unusual punishment.

The Alexa/Fuerza subplot, while not as compelling as Frost and Caitlin's storyline, had some nice touches. It was interesting to see our expectations turned around -- the embodiment of the (ugh) Strength Force is not a villain at all, but a very sympathetic character, and the Speed Force herself turns out to be the real big bad.

There are many kinds of love, and they can all be just as strong and deeply felt as romantic or sexual love. Someone doesn't have to be "in love with" someone to love them deeply.

After all, until a few weeks ago, Frost was literally a part of Caitlin. Two people don't get any closer than that. So of course Caitlin needs Frost as part of her life and can't imagine being without her.

I get that it's a franchise about people in pajamas doing magic things, but that shouldn't grant carte blanche license to ignore even some basic tenants of due process when their inconvenient to your plot.

The real tragedy here is that had they really dug-in with some research and made this a multiple episode arc, they could have turned it into a compelling allegory for both women's rights and trans rights. But, as usual, Berlanti Co loves their virtue signaling without putting in any real effort.

Oh, this is much better, because they waived the trial and went straight to sentencing, which makes far more sense than rushing through the whole trial process in a matter of a week or two. And because it's all about legal arguments without any dispute over evidence or testimony, so we don't have to put up with the kind of nonsense we saw in Lex Luthor's trial, where nobody objected to Lex (as his own lawyer) conflating witness examination and argument to the jury.

Currently they are filming the 150th episode. Due to the 2 week quarantine that visiting actors need to do when arriving in Vancouver, it’s been known for weeks many previous speedsters are returning for that episode. Maybe we will finally get some real answers to the true nature of the Speed Force?

We've seen the Speed Force consciousness manifest as Nora multiple times in the past when Barry was inside the Speed Force. That was already how it habitually presented itself to Barry, by his own preference. So naturally when it came to Barry for help, it took the form that he would recognize and connect to as he had in the past.

The TV writers' approach to the Speed Force was inspired by the Prophets' wormhole space in Deep Space Nine, with visitors seeing the cosmic entity manifested as people and scenes from their own past. So this is like, say, a Prophet coming out of the wormhole and presenting itself to Ben Sisko as an image of his wife or his father. Naturally it would take a different form for someone else.

Now it’s been some how corrupted.

I see it more as childish. The Speed Force is a cosmic force of nature that's unaccustomed to being threatened, traumatized, or vulnerable, so it/she is reacting with instinctive fear for its survival. And when you combine existential fear with the inexperience of a child and the power of a god, it rarely turns out well for anyone who gets in the way.

I see two Godspeeds, I wonder if there's actually two of them in the show or if they just had a stunt or body double hanging around with the main actor? I know they've run into a bunch of duplicates, so that could easily run into two at once.

I'm caught up now, and I'm really enjoying this season so far. I think this is the best it's been in a while.
It's been cool having the Speed Force as an actual character, and having her end up being a potential bad guy now, was an unexpected twist.
I'm disappointed they killed Alexa/Fureza so quickly, they seemed to be setting up some interesting stuff with her, and the actress was doing a good job. I guess they didn't say point blank she was dead, but with the way Barry and Iris reacted, and the fact she wasn't moving, it definitely looked like she was.
The stuff with Frost was really good, it was nice to see one of the villains turned heroes actually have to confront what they did before they turned, and actually have to face real consequences. Way to often they just forgive a character like that, and then seem to forget they were ever anything but a hero.
It also gave Danielle Panabaker some really good material, as both Frost and Caitlin.

Even if Jesse and Harry were restored to life after Crisis, which is still unknown, I doubt they'll bring in anyone from outside Earth-Prime until they're ready to do a story tackling the rediscovery of the multiverse. That would probably have to be a separate story from whatever big speedster-centric tale they're doing.
