Reds are getting ready to play the Chi-town Dirt-Sox after a long ass rain delay.

Not so much a shocker the Cubs won game 1 vs the Oodgers 7-1. Hendricks had a really good game.

More surprisingly, the Cubs came back in "extras" to beat them in game 2, thanks to a last gasp 2 run homer by Baez that tied it up.

The Giants had a wasted opportunity yesterday in that second game. Up 4 runs in the 7th and they lose it on the most predictable thing possible. Yeah the Giants are in first place and they can win the series today, but man, winning that second game last night would have made a greedy heart proud.

By the way, they want to shorten games, but that 7 inning game last night felt really long. It was close to 3 hours, and that's typically the time of a normal 9 inning game. I don't think it is providing the effect Manfred wanted. Personally I'm counting down the days until we can get a new commissioner and get rid of these stupid rules. I originally liked the 7 inning games, but that was mainly because there were so many Covid issues last year. There are less this year and if it rains and you have to play a doubleheader, they should be 9 inning games.

John Means just chucked a no-hitter for the Orioles. Nice to see decent things happening for Baltimore every now and again.

Also, Tony La Russa made a major cock-up today with a double-switch, forcing the pitcher to be the zombie runner in extra innings, when Jose Abreu was in fact eligible to be the zombie. That pitcher wound up making a baserunning error and it cost the White Sox the game. More and more evidence mounts that the game has completely passed him by...

The last Orioles combined no-hitter was July 13, 1991.

The last time they had one pitcher go the distance for the no-hitter was Jim Palmer on Aug. 13, 1969.

To be fair to La Russa, it's an insanely stupid rule.

I very badly miss hearing Gary Thorne and Jim Palmer on MASN. That company shitcanning Thorne last year is unforgivable to me.

So Ohtani pitches 5 innings: 1 hit, 0 runs, 6 walks, 7 strikeouts.

And of course the pen blew it. :(:scream:

Angels designate Albert Pujols for assignment.

Very odd to do that right now. At this point why not let him finish the season and retire to the Hall of Fame?

Something bad must have gone down.

I hated him when he played for the Cards but he was one Helluva player.

I'd like to see him go back to STL so he can retire a Card (as much as I hate the Cards).

11 years in STL, 10 in LA, 1st ballot HOF beyond a doubt.

So many comparisons involving "Ruth, Aaron and Pujols"

Is he allowed to retire as a Cardinal? That contract was basically Moreno buying Pujols's legacy.

Yes. But it probably will not happen until the rosters expand.

Is that a question? Pujols was a Card for 11 years and most of his numbers are from STL.

He's hitting like dogshit--currently .198--and his positions of 1B and DH are filled by Jared Walsh and Ohtani. I'm sure he wants playing time, and he isn't going to get it in Anaheim right now.

The mammoth deal included a ten-year "personal services contract" after the MLB portion concluded, though most lawyers at the time said it amounted to a non-compete deal and wouldn't be legally enforceable if Pujols wanted to, say, become an anbassador for the Cardinals or something.

I live about two miles from Great American Ballpark, in Covington. Those fireworks are the most annoying fucking thing on the planet. Especially on Friday night at 11pm.

I know, sorry about your luck. I have heard the stories about the works scaring the shit out of dogs and waking up folks.

I was mostly in the northeastern burbs in Cincy after my time in Clifton, and had to fight the traffic to get home up I-71 after a game, but I know multiple short-cuts. A few short-cuts in Newport and Covington too. ;)

    From MLBTR:

So Perry Minasian literally called up Uncle Joe and told him to stop running Pujols' broken ass out there. Can kind of understand why he'd want out.

Edit: Also, Gleyber Torres says, "Fuck yo' shift."
