The good folks at TrekMovie have been documenting various Cameo messages recorded in recent days by the one and only John de Lancie.

While TrekMovie's article contains several other neat nuggets of information, here's the standout:

    Hello.

Suddenly, stuff like LeVar Burton coming right and saying Geordi won't be back specifically for season two makes more and more sense.

EDIT: I probably should have figured that the main discussion thread is chattering about this already. Mods, I'll understand if you feel the need to delete this thread.

I think this can only be a good thing.

It means when Season 2 airs we know there is more content in the can, and ready to go into post-production, and eventually sooner air between the other shows. Heck, Season 2 could end with a sizzle reel! Plus next year the cast and crew can do other things (Sir Pat if he wants to do a play, writers write for the other series etc).

Especially knowing the filming was delayed due to that thing that I'm not going to mention because everybody in the whole world was affected somehow!

    That is good news.

IIRC, PIC was only meant to last three seasons, and Georgiou/Section 31 is only going to start after one of the current shows concluded. Going this way, it would make sense why Georgiou already left DSC.

A thought: If both seasons 2 and 3 are currently being filmed, might they both air in 2022? Say, season 2 in the winter or spring, season 3 in the fall?

I'd be down for it. I figure it's either that or they hold a completely finished third season for a few months because the slate's full in-between.

Q/John de Lancie is a must have if a series is called 'Picard'.

Maybe you could, but Q was integral to Picard's story arc throughout TNG.

I recently completed a TNG rewatch. Most of his appearances seem forced, Tapestry might be the the only one that is needed between EAF and AGT.

I think de Lancie is wonderful. If it weren't for his talent, I might have a less favorable opinion of Q.

It's been a coin toss over the years so far as Q-themed episodes. My favorites would be Q Who, Deja Q, All Good Things and VOYs Death Wish.

Filming 2 seasons back to back? Fantastic if accurate.

Between Stewart's age, covid, and consistency in storytelling this is a good thing. However, it does mean that whatever the Q arc is, it lasts for two seasons.

Another reason for them filming seasons 2 and 3 back-to-back beyond Stewart's age and covid, is that I think Stewart's contract with CBS expires in December of this years and would require him to renegotiate to film into 2022.

You give way too many chances to things you don't like:lol:

I'm hoping the Q stuff will be good.John DeLancie knew how to make Q work from the start, and even got to change lines (e.g. "Q Who" in ditching a lame "I'M MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!" tirade into the famous and wonderfully-underplayed "Oh please" bit... I'll have to find the article, there was one bit I'd swear he got to change and much to the credit of the story), so it'd be very surprising if Q disappointed. Even the worst and/or most overrated TNG episodes were more entertaining because of Q.
