Three Years Of Starscream: A Celebration

Oh my god, I just read back through this entire thread and it brought back so many memories! So many members I had forgotten, so much Wackiness. In the past 20 years, I've

moved to Australia and back (man, was it ever weird to be on the other side of the world on 9/11)

graduated college

run a cooking school

abandoned same for a career in wine

forgotten about this bbs

had to start taking antacids—not so much for the wine, but for being over 30

had a niece

moved to New York City and back

gone to Greece, France, Spain, and especially Italy a ton for work

studied Italian, but not enough

remembered this bbs when Picard wrapped, and—this is what's really impressive—remembered my password and hopped back on, to be reunited with some of you beloved old farts

and, like Wacky, lost my cat of many (in my case, 16) years. That was seven years ago, and it's still fresh.

What a crazy ride! Thanks to Starscream not only for 20 incredible years but also for making me take a second to think about all that.

No but seriously it's great to have susannah here, this is definitely the most memorable bump of this thread in at least twelve years.

And now I must disappear again to retain an air of mystery (unless Jethro posts again, in which case I'll say "Jethro, you're an idiot" go to Moderator Actions ((if that's still a thing)) and post "GO AHEAD AND WARN ME THEN" at the confused moderator.)

(My 20 years is coming up in July but I never thought to make a cool thread like this)

I actually went back and reread the opening post for the first time in seventy years and, wow, there were some things in there that I wouldn't say now, even as a "joke" (the Big Matty quotes, yikes. Maybe I should fnally take him out of my sig?) I guess I actually have changed for the better in the last seventeen years. A bit. Don't tell anyone.

Also I think everyone kind of understood the CaptainWacky "character" at the time (since most of the replies are positive and not just calling me a dick) so I wonder what someone who wasn't around then and just stumbled on this thread would think of it? I think it's important we keep a record of how people talked in 2003 though. It's educational.

Three years..

It's interesting that I never lived up to the early potential I showed. That I never actually evolved beyond my initial comedy troll persona to become a normal poster here, never actually made more than a dozen honest "this is what I thought of that tv show!" type posts. That I made more posts in those first three years years than the next eighteen combined. That I'm only known for being "the guy with the thread bumped once a year" rather than for anything else I've contributed to the board. That my best years are so far behind that they feel like they happened to a completely different person, the memory of them too clouded and fractured to ever provoke genuine feeling in me.

Is it true you got both your legs amputated and replaced by unicycles?

(If you actually did end up as an amputee in the time since we last talked, then yikes, that's a horrible coincidence.)
