It looks pretty crazy. And very silly.

    Looking forward to it.
I'm a little disappointed that once again, they seem to be making up their own aliens, instead of using ones from the comics. I love the show, but like I said in another thread, it's kind of weird how they seem to go out of their way not to use stuff from the comics anymore, while the other Arrowverse shows seem to happily use as much from the comics as they can.

Could be $$$$ cos they'd probably have to pay a license fee for any comic characters/aliens/whatever and there probably aren't any that have direct links to the Legends so not worth investment to crib some-one else's enemies.

Legends is produced by Warner Bros Television. Which is part of WarnerMedia and so is DC Comics. There are no rights fees for using DC characters.

I do not think its producers and writers think comic book references matter anymore.

It’s frustrating, they do not have to be well know references either. This season Supergirl has a vampire character from a planet called Transilvane. I assumed the show made it up. Not true at all. Turns out it was created by Jack Kirby! Yes, during his run on Jimmy Olsen.

Do production companies like Bertanti Productions pay Warner?

Warner Bros. produces the shows in partnership with Berlanti Productions. Nominally all the DC-based shows are WB properties, but they partner with or subcontract Berlanti and various other production companies to do the actual work of making them. Most shows these days are produced as partnerships between a major studio that owns the property and an independent production company like Berlanti, Bad Robot, Secret Hideout, etc. that does the actual work of making the show.

I'm wondering if they're even going to bother to try reconciling their "B-movie creature feature" approach to aliens this season with Supergirl's alien immigration and civil rights allegories over the past few years. They went to all the trouble to merge the universes last year, but they have yet to really do anything with it, to explore the ramifications of the fact that the Flash and Batwoman and the Legends and Black Lightning now exist on a world that's got a lot of alien immigrants living on it openly.

Gary being an alien makes so much sense. :)
I’m glad that Constantine is still in it. He’s probably the last one I will like when Rory and Sara leave

Ok I'm almost certain Gary has lost his glasses before.

He must have had his alien contact lenses in as a backup.

I’m surprised for them to mention another show. So far none of the others have done so.

Gary being retconned as a Time-traveling Alien Warlock-In-Training is such fun!

Amusing that they featured David Bowie, who's basically the model for John Constantine, IIRC. I'm not familiar enough with him to know how convincing the impression was, though.

I wonder if that obnoxious gladiator was the real Spartacus. I hear a lot of people claimed to be him...

Tinfoil hats would actually amplify signals like a parabolic antenna, rather than blocking them. You'd need a complete Faraday cage around the entire brain, which is kind of difficult with the neck in the way. But then, it seems that Spooner's alien spidey-sense isn't actually due to a chip in her head, but is an innate ability. Is she a metahuman, or an alien herself? (Metas generally need their metagene activated by some trigger, though, e.g. dark matter or Green Light. Maybe something done to her upon her abduction was her trigger?)

My assumption is that the glasses trigger a lasting shapeshift, rather than being a holo-image or something. After all, given some of Gary's past experiences (e.g. with a certain unicorn, and his relationship with Constantine), his human form is clearly more than an outward glamour.

Still, I'm not sure the retcon would really hold up to scrutiny. But then, it's Legends, so I guess we just go with it, like how Ava used her checklist to just go with the Legends' expected behavior. That was a nice touch.

Black Lightning referenced the Flash a few weeks back, and Jefferson got some off-camera help from him and STAR Labs. And a Crows Security logo from Batwoman showed up on an armored car in The Flash.

I was relieved that they acknowledged the DEO, but at the same time, they're treating aliens as a mysterious unknown rather than the everyday immigrants that Supergirl portrays them to be. I suppose we have to assume that Earth's alien population is pretty much limited to National City, though it's unclear why they would be.

When they referred to Bowie as "Starman," I wondered if someone was going to mistake him for the Justice Society member of that name from Stargirl. But I belatedly remembered that even though Stargirl is coming to The CW, it's still set on an alternate Earth, and the Earth Prime folks haven't rediscovered the multiverse yet. Assuming Earth Prime's Justice Society is the same as the Earth-1 version we saw in Legends season 2, then it operated in the 1940s and had a Stargirl rather than a Starman.

I'm a big David Bowie fan, so I got kick out their run in with him. The guy they got wasn't perfect, but was still pretty good.
Gary being an alien actually makes a lot of sense.
The introduction of Spooner was pretty good, seems like she should be a nice edition to the cast.
Bringing in alien magic is a nice way to keep Constantine relevant.

Oh, yeah. Come to think of it, all that talk about Aleister Crowley being imprisoned on Earth must have been to set up a future appearance by him, I guess as a source of intel for Constantine/the Legends.
