What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

TNG movie era suffered due to the exclusive focus on Picard and Dara. We could have had some great odd number movies if the focus had been shifted to others in the ensemble. Imagine a Worf focused movie...

Yes, the movies are pretty much Picard-centered. It wouldn't surprise me if more than half of the scenes were about Picard.

I wanted a combined movie verse, that could use any characters from any of the series. It didn't need to be the end of TOS characters. Kirk through the Nexus, Spock through his long life, and Scotty through the transporter, were
Nope. She was a great ripoff of McCoy and I really wish she'd stuck around.

At least as a guest star a couple times a season, or as a liason from StarFleet Medical or something. Unfortunately, this would have shown up Gates, with a more experienced doctor, and actress to compare with.

Ambassador Lwaxana Troi was a great character..so what if she fancied Picard?
Middle age woman chases man close to her own age..shock, horror!
Old middle aged man has affairs/secret love for much younger woman....(Picard/Crusher, Picard/Vash) ......I can hear the crickets.

Crusher was awful. I used to call her Beverlump. "I need to run more tests!" was pretty much her contribution to the show.

The episode where she kinda had ghost sex is one of those ones so outrageous and awful it becomes brilliant and legend, tho.

Remember Me is one of my favorite TNG episodes.

Is there a single example in the whole franchise when it's an older woman who goes out with a much younger man?

Only when it's a ghost!!!

Sort of...

Crusher was undeveloped as a lead character but I'd hardly call her "awful." Diana Muldaur is the stronger actress but her own character was hamstrung by just one season of episodes and being little more than a female Leonard McCoy to provide a foil for Data.

Im with Team Pulaski.

We watched S2 recently. She's not nearly anti-data as I was led to believe and even cheers him on in a video game competition. and he cant feel anything even if she disses him a bit.

Also, I too find his character generally insufferable when he doesnt know something and the writers have a human explain it pedantically. Ish. We moved into S3 for our Fri. Star Trek lunch, my wife and I, and I had to call it quits and were going to Voyager. Cant stand Data and every time Troi opens her mouth, it' horrible. Crusher is like lukewarm oatmeal. Voyager, here we come. Is that controversial?

Well, she was suspicious of Data and that made her antipathic to many viewers.
