Are Benzites aquatic aliens?

They look it to me....are they amphibious? Breathing a benzine-laced air (that’s cancerous to humans and perhaps others) and also water on their benzine-rich homeworld?

In my head canon, I imagine great seaside stone and coral steppe formations that stretch on for miles from which they walk in and out of their seas. Some of them natural wonders of their homeworld, some artificial constructs that the locals tend to like.

They also look like they come from a cold planet, so I imagine the steppes being white and (at different latitudes) sometimes ice formations.

Hoya could breath air without the device... Would like to see more of them, one of the many underexplored species.
Yeah, I noticed that. An injection of some kind? (Humans use tri-ox on Vulcan.) Or cybernetic implant or genetic manipulation?

If they’re amphibious, there’s not much of a problem. They do look very aquatic though...like they should live in arctic waters. Do you suppose that Xindi Aquatics could walk around suit-free by the 24th century, with the right treatments and an antigrav chair or artificial legs?

Maybe the Benzites, or better yet, the Antedians (with way more fins, than the Benzites) are basically in water 98% of the time on their homeworld, and modern science permits them to walk around air filled ships just fine, for a time.

Might be it's possible to adjust the atmosphere provided all the others take an injection. Feasible for a runabout, not for a Galaxy class starship...

Michael Okuda claimed that "there's been some advances in Benzite technology."
Maybe most people, human and alien alike, take atmosphere and biosphere protective injections before spending too much time most anywhere, including aboard ship. The Benzites and Barzans need a bit extra, especially early on, but the technology gets better over time for its billions of consumers.

Little known fact: Captain Archer made an initially successful first contact with the Benzites, but relations with their species were set back over a century due to an unfortunate incident in the mess hall involving Commander Tucker, a basket of hush puppies, and the catfish fry he organized on precisely the wrong day.
