News Clone Wars spin-off-- The Bad Batch

Maybe she's a clone like them, except her embryo developed as a biological female instead of male.

Which would be considered a defect to the Kaminoans, since they're trying to create biologically male clones.

I doubt the Kaminoans would have decanted the clone if it was THAT far off the template unless they had a specific use for it. 99 and the other Bad Batchers seem to have the kind of defects that arose from the accelerated growth process, and may not have presented in vitro. So I feel like if they're making a female clone of Jango, it'd be on purpose.

Maybe plan-a for the Stormtrooper Corps was an all-female clone army and she's a prototype? Or maybe the idea was for a line of female clones to be the TIE pilots? Broadly speaking: Generally smaller body-mass, higher endurance levels and reflexes etc. would offer distinct advantages for pilots instead of ground troops.
And if you want to get very creepy and THX-1138 about it, they could be engineered to reproduce parthenogenetically so you're not entirely dependent on the cloning vats to rebuild or expand the numbers like you would with the males.

ETA: just had a look at the trailer again with the subtitles on this time, and from that it seems the child's name is "Omega". So odds are she's some kind of strand-cast. The accent sounds Kiwi, so clearly there's supposed to be at least an implied connection to Jango (yes I know, accents aren't genetic, but tell that to literally every other clone, and for that matter; Jedi.) One assumes the name itself is meant to indicate she's the last clone? Indeed, wasn't there a clone called "Alpha" in the EU that was originally going to be used on TCW before they changed it to Rex?

Crosshair is missing from a lot of the group shots in the trailer that appear to be after they're on the run. I saw a theory he might join the Empire. That would be pretty interesting dynamic.

One of the black armoured Clone Troopers in the previous trailer has a similar helmet to him, and a large rifle.

I'm a little bit surprised that they spoiled Rex this early. I mean, it's not really a surprise as we all expected it at some point, but I still thought they'd hold it. Saw returning looks promising. And definite A-Team vibes from the set up.

V-wings! Awesome. Is it too much to ask for a Victory Star Destroyer? I'd love to get an official design for those, and they are period appropriate.

I'm looking forward to this. I liked the characters in their Clone Wars arc, and the setting is ripe for all kinds of drama and world building. I really hope we learn a bunch about the clone experience post-war.

Well the Victory class is mentioned in the Tarkin novel, and a copy and paste fleet of them shows up in one of the Vader comics.

That trailer was pretty cool.
Definitely curious who the kid is and what her role in the show will be.
I missed Rex, but I did see Saw, who was an unexpected surprise. With his appearances in The Clone Wars, Catalyst, Rebel Rising, Rebels, Fallen Order and now this, Saw is getting a pretty complex history built up.

RE: Victory-Class Star Destroyers. Personally they're far and away my least favourite EU ship design. It's just a scaled down ISD with random crap glued on; so lazy and dumb looking.
If they ever show up in canon I'd much rather seem something that looks more like a Ventator, but with a single Imperial-Class style bridge tower, and all but the ventral hangar bays removed. Failing that, I'm sure if they went digging into the AotC & RotS concept art archives they'd find something workable.

Well based on the evidence so far, the show appears to take almost right after Order 66. So really not a lot of time has passed for new designs to be pumped out.

They're still using late Clone Wars tech in the trailer, including V-Wings.

IIRC a surprising amount of the more familiar Imperial equipment starts appearing within the first year. So it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that just as TCW transitioned from the AotC "phase 1" designs to the RotS "phase 2" stuff, we'll see a similar transition here at some point.

Trailer has me hooked - looking forward to this!

PS: great seeing an Imperial Nu-Class Transport also!

We got a new poster today.

I like it a lot, it really fits in with the movie posters.

Darth Vader will be out of commission early on at least. He's about to get some limb removal and barbeque treatments followed by some cybernetics work. It will be a while before he comes back out to see what his clone buddies have been doing after the war ends.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Vader would be laser focused on Jedi hunting around this time, so won't come into this unless they cross paths with some Jedi survivor on the run...which is certainly possible sooner or later, but probably not anytime soon.

I doubt they'll be front loading the show with too many direct connections to other stories. That's the kind of thing to save for at least season 2.

Well, even if they don't I'm still betting that planet is Bracca, or at least another junk planet. The first trailer showed guys in the Scrapper Guild outfits as seen in that game.
