In "The Trouble with Tribbles: The Story Behind Star Trek's Most Popular Episode"* Gerrold said the issue came up, Heinlein (The Man) to any old School SF fan. The Man gave his blessing to the show going forward and mentioned that they both own a debt of origin to rabbits in Australia.

Honestly, it should have been all about the Klingon War. I love the Mirror Universe and all but it could have waited a season, especially with shorter seasons.

Controversial opinion: "The Trouble with Tribbles" is way overrated.

The tribbles are great as props and as a concept unto themselves, but the episode is generally very unfunny and nonsensical. For one thing, first season Kirk would never have tolerated the tribble infestation to the degree that he did here in season two.

What exactly do you think he'd do?

I actually like all of it, but that's how the order pans out.

I did not see Enterprise when it first came out, and after years of reading negative views i was not expecting much from it, so maybe because I set the bar low, i was pleasantly surprised it was far better than what i imagined when I finally got around to watching.

I should have lowered the bar to the floor for discovery
