Well if they move to Utah I thing Peggy would be okay married to two Steve Rogers at once in this alternative timeline. JasonI prefer to think Steve went back to his past and lived out his life there because any Peggy he meets in an alternate timeline wouldn't be his Peggy, and he'd basically be stealing that alternate Peggy from her Steve who he knows is still trapped in the Arctic.
I can absolutely believe it. Of course he would want to do something to fix all the bad stuff that happened in the 20th century, but any significant changes could have doomed any chance to defeat Thanos in the future. One chance in more than four million, remember? We will have to agree to disagree on this because there's no way in any Universe anywhere can I picture Steve Rogers doing what you just said.
Then, in my opinion, you haven't paid any attention to the characters of Steve Rogers or Peggy Carter.I can absolutely believe it. Of course he would want to do something to fix all the bad stuff that happened in the 20th century, but any significant changes could have doomed any chance to defeat Thanos in the future. One chance in more than four million, remember?
Yeah that's the other time travel theory that cooks everyone's noodle. This is why him living in the original timeline and his actions causing it to unfold as we saw makes the most sense. Steve arrives in the past, does a couple small scale "experiments" to see if he can change the future, and quickly realizes that his actions actually cause things to happen exactly how they happened the first time.
So Steve can try and stop Hydra all he wants. Turns out Hydra would have taken over back in '77 if old Steve hadn't been there (or something like that). Eventually he will just accept that he isn't going to be able to change anything, so he will be able to live with not stopping Howard's murder.
You go back and kill Hitler, but someone else steps up and leads the Nazis because the Nazis are a product of the times, not of one man. You keep going back, and every time you return to a future worse than before. You're stuck in a Groundhog's loop, baby.Yeah that's the other time travel theory that cooks everyone's noodle.
Basically that everything that's happened in time has happened in time (including any incidents of time travel).
In other words if you today in 2021 went back to 1938 to try and kill Hitler; you would never succeed, because 1938 already passed and Hitler and World War II occurred, thus you didn't succeed. Yes you traveled back to 1938 from 2021 - but in 1938 you obviously failed because the events of 1938 occurred as you knew them in 2021.
Anyone who thinks Steve would just sit back and allow his best friend to be tortured by Hydra while that same organization totally corrupt the life's work of the woman he married didn't pay any attention at all to any to who he is. It's totally against his character. That was the whole point of the Civil War movie was that he couldn't just sit there idly while bad things happened.
It's like Peggy said to him, "Sometimes the best you can do is to start over". And that's exactly what he did.
He's not screwing up any timelines. He created new timelines simply by time traveling.
Also, and I ask this every time the subject comes up and nobody has an answer for it, if he spent his entire life with Peggy in the main timeline, then where did the shield come from?
Breaking: The time travel in Endgame is a mess
Except that the whole point of The Ancient One not wanting to give Banner the stone and Banner promising to return it to her time and place was that so there WOULDN'T be any branching timelines. There ended up being one with Loki, but that's because they screwed up.
Presumably we'll see some sort of resolution to that in the Loki series.
If we're going that far alternate, then I want a Loki and Howard the Duck team-up.Maybe, but I don't need one. It's an alternate Loki having time travel adventures; that's fine.
Here's the thing, If merely returning the stones to their reality was enough to fold it back into the main timeline, then alternate Loki wouldn't exist to have his show. He didn't remove the Space stone from the 2012 timeline, he is just hanging out elsewhere. So when Steve returned the Time and Mind Stones that reality should have been pruned but it wasn't, because other changes to the timeline were made when they stole the stones in the first place.
Bingo! Also, if he was in an alternate timeline, how'd he get back to ours?
I can absolutely believe it. Of course he would want to do something to fix all the bad stuff that happened in the 20th century, but any significant changes could have doomed any chance to defeat Thanos in the future. One chance in more than four million, remember?
More bizarre is they haven't made him a asshole character. Just a soldier that might be in over his head in dealing with Super hero stuff as opposed to regular military stuff. JasonProving once again that people suck, Wyatt Russell is receiving death threats...

Not an asshole? In high school we would have duct-taped him naked to a bus stop after midnight in downtown Poughkeepsie.More bizarre is they haven't made him a asshole character.
