Movies that made you cry

Movies and stories in general have the capacity of evoking real emotions and i was wondering which movies made you cry and why?

My list:

- Dances with Wolves

The end when he is leaving the tribe and Wind in his Hair, his best friend, is saying good buy from the top of the hill - his is the most direct outburst of loss while the whole tribe watches them go. A sign of true friendship.

- Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Actually two scenes - when they exit Moria after Gandalf fell and are grieving, such a powerful scene about loss ( again).
And the second is when Frodo tries to slip away unseen at the end but is caught by Sam, who nearly drowns following Frodo - "Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee!". Everybody should have a friend like Sam in their life, i believe the world would be much better if we had more Sam's.

- Schindler's List

I believe no explanation is needed, that movie should be required watching for everybody at least once in their life to understand true evil and true heroism.

Silent Running:

Not just because of the drones but because of the whole theme of the film. This behind the scenes documentory is fascinating. Bit of a slow start but five minutes in it's a must see for any fan of the film.

Mask:

When Rocky Dennis wins multiple awards at a school presentation evening.

When Rusty Dennis is putting pins in to the map at the end.

Mr Holland's Opus:

The funeral scene of one of Mr Holland's pupils that was killed during military service.

When Mr Holland's students surprise him by performing his composition and the speech from one of his former pupils that starts at 03:30 in the video. Richard Dreyfuss is one of my favourite actors.

It's a Wonderful Life usually gets me a little misty.
Two time travel movies with Rachel McAdams, The Time Traveler's Wife and About Time.
Forrest Gump
The Day After

^I cried like a baby during "About Time."

"Finding Neverland" had my whole family sobbing buckets.
"Life is Beautiful" did me in--if you don't cry at the end of this movie, there's something wrong with you.
The opening sequence of "Up."

Field of Dreams
Brian’s Song
Return of the King

I don’t think I’ve ever openly sobbed in a theater like I did after seeing Dragonfly. I had to sit for a minute because my glasses were so fogged up!

I'm one of those saps who cries at almost anything, but these always get me:

LOTR: Fellowship when Gandalf dies, and toward the end when Sam wades into the river to go after Frodo
LOTR: Two Towers when Sam makes his big speech while the Nazgul are attacking Osgiliath
LOTR: Return from Aragorn's line "My friends, you bow to no one," and I basically don't stop until the Annie Lennox song is over. Like really ugly crying. :wah:

Project X with Matthew Broderick

The scene when Virgil is being taken to the simulator to die..spoiler....he doesn't, but is very moving.

Naff ending though

Movies never make me cry. But, some do get me all lumpy in the throat. Some scenes that get me:

George Kirk's sacrifice on the U.S.S. Kelvin - Star Trek

"I regret some of the things I said to you earlier."
"SOME?"
"As a matter of fact, I think you're the bravest man I've ever known."
"Thank you, sir." -Star Trek: First Contact

The stampede scene and aftermath in The Lion King

"I know now why you cry, but it is something I can never do." -Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Forrest Gump
The Day After

Lots of moments in Forrest Gump that choke me up. When Bubba says "I wanna go home" when he's mortally wounded, when Jenny runs towards Forrest in the Washington D.C scene and everyone cheers and my favourite is when Jenny moves in with Forrest after his mother has passed away and it shows a brief scene of them dancing in the house at night. It makes me think that they spend the days relaxing and going for walks and then in the evening Forrest makes a hearty dinner with fresh vegetables and then they play games and dance. I'm getting choked up just thinking about it

It's touching because Forrest always remained devoted to Jenny despite knowing it was unrequited love.

I remember some thirty years ago, I got home from work and wanted to just relax and veg out, so I put in ST:III. Once the main title music started in with Spock's Theme from TWOK, I just teared up. That's one of the most powerful memories I have of tearing up at movies.

My Girl when Maculy Culkin dies. The scene in Titanic with all the surviors out in the ocean. Spock dying in Wrath of Khan. Jason

Any movie with a dog in it and the dog dies. To this day I can't rewatch Old Yeller, Lassie Come Home, Where the Red Fern Grows, Call of the Wild...
