Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

Why was he chosen, considering how different are the vision about superhero movies between the two directors?

Because the folks running WB at the time saw his name and thought the secret to a cape movie earning a billion dollars at the box office, like The Avengers did, was "hire Joss Whedon."

According to this review Zheng Kai's scenes as Ryan Choi are back in. Hadn't heard anything about them before this, so wasn't sure if they were retained.

My plans...

Man of Steel (Wednesday)
Batman v Superman (Thursday)
Justice League (Friday) - I'd rather watch a 4 hour movie at the start of the weekend than on a Work Night.

Next 3 days are going to be good :)

I re-watched Man of Steel for the first time in years about a week and a half ago, and I appreciated it even more this time around. I'm doing the Ultimate Edition of Beavis on Thursday night, and then on Friday I'm going to make a big bowl of buttery popcorn and enjoy as much of ZSJL as I can before I pass out from the utter marathon that is a four-hour movie.

Snyder Cut Justice League review: Still a mess, now a million years long
We also learn that villain Steppenwolf is an underling to a cosmic conqueror named Darkseid. In theory, this could add some fun nuance: The Marvel movies have shown how villains can be developed as personalities with relatable conflicts mirroring the dilemmas faced by the good guys. In practice, it just means Justice League's existing over-CG-ed gray beast guy now reports to a different CG gray beast guy who in turn reports into yet another CG gray beast guy.

The bickering heroes collecting magical alien artifacts is basically the same as Infinity War and Endgame, and Darkseid is essentially Thanos without the character development. Hell, Snyder even throws in a moment that seems to lift the Hulk's signature line ("I'm always angry") from the first Avengers film -- written and directed by one Joss Whedon, ironically.

Which version you prefer is entirely up to you -- I'm not going to make a judgment on whether the two-hour or four-hour version is better.

But I will say this: At least one is over sooner.

Most of the reviews I've checked out are on youtube and they're mostly very positive. As far as the length, it's streaming, it's broken up into chapters and it can be paused.

Reviews are all over the place. I think if you enjoyed BvS you’ll like this. That’s all that needs to be said.

Most of the reviews I've checked out are on youtube and they're mostly very positive. As far as the length, it's streaming, it's broken up into chapters and it can be paused.

Most of the reviews I've read confirm that WB should not have inserted Whedon into the production, and that Snyder's vision was the right way to go.That's obvious, as he was the guiding hand of most of the DCEU--not some guy who tried to ape his old job while abusing members of the cast. In fact, in addition to the glowing reviews posted in this thread from top sources such as Variety and Gail Simone, there are others echoing those sentiments. Wonderful.

..and yeah, as far as the length of the film goes, I remember sitting in theaters where long movies had intermissions, and had no issues with that (meaning, the audience had no control over when and how they watched the film), so a streaming film that grants the luxury of pausing should not be an issue to anyone, unless they are looking for a problem.

With all the snyder cut buzz, I wonder why they haven't yet announced the ayer cut of SS for next year...

There are a lot of no-name, no-traffic YouTube channels that got to see this movie in advance for review. I wonder how they scored that.

So they are hoping we forgot how we wasted money on a crummy movie several years ago, and hope we do the same thing over again? Got it. Sign me up.
Sincerely, The Sucker
