First New Trek Released From Now (January 2021)..?

My predictions:

Lower Decks S2(Paramount+): July 2021
Prodigy S1(Nickelodeon): Septermber 2021
Discovery S4 (Paramount+): November 2021
Picard S2 (Paramount+): February 2022
SNW S1 (Paramount+): September 2022

Really they should move all filming of every movie and TV show to New Zealand, they've proven that they know how to handle pandemics effectively enough for normal life to resume--after their current lockdown they'll be returning to normality long before the rest of the planet does.

Given it seems Strange New Worlds is going to start filming soon, and Picard keeps getting pushed back, I think the order is going to be: Lower Decks, Prodigy, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, and then Picard. Though if Picard and Strange New Worlds are filming almost simultaneously they may decide to hold back Strange New Worlds for later.

Where it might get odd honestly is what to do if the third season of Lower Decks/second season of Prodigy are done before Picard or SNW are ready for primetime.

I'm surprised they think they'll be able to get DISCO season four out that quickly.
As I said in another thread

It did start filming in November. So that isn't too surprising.

Season 1 started filming in January 2017 and started airing in October 2017 - 9 Months
Season 2 started in April 2018 and aired January 2019 - 9 Months
I can't find a start date for Season 3. But quarantine def slowed down post-production so it was longer.

With everyone having almost a year to adapt to working at home, post-production is probably going a bit faster than Season 3.

Also they only said 2021, that would also include december.

I think season 3 began filming July 2019.

Filming of season 4 is taking significantly slower than usual. They began in November and by mid January they were only on their third episode. Compare that to season 3 where they began in July of 2019 and by September they already had at least four episodes complete based on an interview with Doug Jones at the time claiming a quarter of the season was already filmed.

They only filmed for 5 or 6 weeks, when they took a break for the holidays. They filmed 2 episodes in those 5 or 6 weeks. Which isn't much longer than they did before Covid.

They could also go for a gap in the middle of the season like they did in S1. I doubt they will do that, but it is a way to give the crew an extra few weeks to finish the last couple of episodes if they need to make a deadline for the premiere. I am more optimistic that they will have something this year than I was when S3 finished airing, but I am not banking on it.

IIRC they've gone to those "virtual background" sets like the Mandalorian. From what I've seen they would likely make post-production at least much, much quicker, because the VFX are partially pre-rendered prior to the episodes being shot, and can be tweaked live.

IIRC, CBSAA actually instituted a rule saying they wouldn't do that with any of their shows again claiming there was a massive viewer drop off in the second half of Disco's first season.

Good. It wasn't really done right. Longer shows can pull it off, but 13 episode shows kind of feel weird coming back for 5 or 6 episodes.

I wouldn't be surprised if Discovery season 4 premieres this year, but I definitely don't think we're going to get the complete season in 2021. Maybe a December premiere.

I keep thinking of when Netflix said the final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was going to premiere in 2020...then they dropped the season on December 31st.

For the rest of 2021 into 2022 the order will probably be:
Prodigy
Lower Decks
Discovery
Picard
Strange New Worlds

One hopes most of them end up on Prime Video internationally.
Yeah, one could hope so. But I fear that Strange New Worlds or Prodigy may end up on Paramount+ in the areas where that is already available by the time those are released. So I may actually need to watch Star Trek from THREE different streaming services.
Discovery from Netflix, Picard & Lower Decks from Prime and Strange New Worlds and maybe Prodigy from Paramount+.

And people in USA still DARE to complain that they need to get Paramount+ :brickwall:

Picard S2 (Paramount+): February 2022
SNW S1 (Paramount+): September 2022

With Lower Decks S2 confirmed for August I may be off by 1 month on my predictions. But I think I got the order right, and correctly predicted Discovery in 2021 and Picard in 2022.
