News? Stories from Dubious Sources

With NCIS - New Orleans cancelled, Bakula suddenly has a lot of time on his hands...

"Possibly leading to a series?" GMAFB. NCIS is in its 18th year, NCIS:LA is in its 12th; Bakula's installment of the franchise is in its 7th. He's a producer on the show. These shows don't get canceled. He does not need a streaming skiffy show.

I agree that this "news" was all make-believe, but boy, that comment didn't even make it a week.

At least Bakula got to experience a full 7 season run, like every other classic Star Trek Captain (Shatner was host of the 7-season Rescue 911).

There is a Deep Space Nine 4K remaster in development. It's being done by a VFX Studio called FX3X, they've worked on Discovery and Picard and are going to be working on Strange New Worlds.

Can you elaborate on this, do you work for this FX company, is this something you were told or is it the old adage of my uncle works at Nintendo

Or are you on a wind up to get fanboys like me hard?
I don't work at this FX company, but I was told this by someone who is close to a few people at ViacomCBS.

Part of me would like to think this does make sense, if they are scaling up in house to work on Trek all year round then they have in house resources to work on the remaster at a cheaper price then farming it out or establishing a one of team to do this.

But on the order hand I dare not dream of something so sweet.

Still, it's kind of weird that we are finally getting the DS9 remaster. You'd think they'd have other stuff to work on for Secret Hideout, plus I doubt remastering an old show is cheap. Nevertheless, I'm excited we're getting this remaster. Let's hope Voyager is next.

I'd love to see this! DS9 is my fave after TOS and I'd absolutely fork down some hard earned bucks for a blu-ray or 4k edition of the series.

I'm also not holding my breath.

Truth be told, DS9 is not that popular amongst the mainstream. Hell, TNG remastered didn't make the money that they thought they would. I think we'd be more likely to see a TOS 4k edition before we saw DS9. Not to mention all of the films.

Are they just doing the effects, or the full post-production? Google suggests they have a facility in North Hollywood.

Fingers crossed anyway.

I'm honestly not sure. I'm not well-versed in this stuff. All I know is, FX3X's Macedonian facility will be working on a remaster of DS9 soon. A 4K scan of the original filmed footage will be used for the remaster. The remaster will include new VFX that will be created using AI?

That's my website and article! I didn't link it originally because I don't want to spam the forum, or make you guys think that I just want you to click on the article for clicks or whatever.

That article is by the poster who announced this "news" uptopic.

Please do check him out on Twitter, among other places. You'll get a clearer picture of his, ah, reliability.
I'll just ignore that "ah" and say that none of my Star Trek scoops have been officially confirmed or denied, yet. It's up to you if you want to believe this or not, I'm just waiting for them to announce it. I just hope they do it as soon as production on the project starts, and not after it's done.
