I blame the PT and CW and the EU for that.I just don't like the thought of a bad guy so powerful that he literally can never die. Just makes things seem so hopeless.![]()

he came back in the EU too.. not one of its better moments. And I won't even start on Luuke Skywalker. If more ST films come out, I really hope they keep Palpatine dead. I never liked the thought of bringing him back in the first place, Shit, does anyone ever truly DIE in the SW universe?
The PT pretty much made Palpatine unbeatable. The CW confirmed that he had plots within plots within plots. The Legends EU had him able to come back as a clone and hinted that he had died and been reborn multiple times.^ Come again?![]()
See, I don't get this. It's not like if I don't like something (like the Clone Wars) the stuff I do like stops being likable? Does it?![]()
I mean, if that's the approach then I get it. I was just curious as to the rationale but if you don't want to discuss it that's fine too. I personally just treat the OT as the Star Wars. NoI'm wondering if I shoud reply at all, this thread was created with the frustration I had with episodes 8 and 9.... maybe this thread shouldn't be bumped, ever, but....
To your question, the problem is that in this case it's not possible to skip an episode you don't like and then move on to the next one. The story just becomes even more weird if one were to skip episode 8 and just jump from 7 to 9.

I feel the same way about the ST. Good but also bad.If one wishes to focus on the originals that's fine.
It just feels weird in some way because there's so much more Star Wars out there.
The prequels have their moments.
Good but also bad.
You were acting like you did not want to discuss it so I respect that.Sorry, didn't catch that, language barrier or somethig got in the way....?

I could discuss Star Wars all day long and have in the past. If you feel that continuing watching is the way to go then I would encourage to find the stuff you enjoy and revisiting that oftenWe can keep going, just let me know what's on your mind.![]()

I would think that if the son was meant to be a clone, they would have taken pains to make him look more like a younger Ian McDiarmid. I assumed that as a power-mad galactic Emperor, Palpatine just had various mistresses behind the scenes... and they were probably coerced, for the most part. That's the kind of thing that guys like that do....
Am I correct in assuming that Palpatine's son was actually a clone of him? I can't see Palpatine ever having a normal family life, with a wife and kid.
...
PT = Prequel Trilogy^ Come again?![]()
There is always something to find for enjoyment.I'm not sure I'm ready to let Star Wars go for good. Time will tell.
Fortunately, there is this thing called Star Trek in many forms which I enjoy much more.![]()
Given Palpatine's ultimate goal having clones at the ready seems to be part of his planning, especially with Vader no longer being a viable candidate. It looks like Palpatine was looking to diversify the genetic pool, possibly to expand the viability of the possession. From what I understand, Rey's father was a failed clone that they decided to let loose for laughs (or Palpatine foresaw Rey through this clone and figured he'd be able to get a new powerful body, now that the Skywalkers seem to not be willing anymore). Palpatine was looking for a clone that was force sensitive that he could occupy. This one seems to not be force sensitive. Though we are to assume her mother was a nobody as well, Rey's clone father would have been quite young if he was decanted after Endor, which means that Palpatine's clones would be rapidly aging.
To me it seems there was no cohesive plan about the overall story of the trilogy and it showed because it seemed so disjointed, especially from 7 to 8.
Meh. Star Wars had a couple of really good movies. (Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back) The rest were hit and miss. The Old Republic games were outstanding and lots of fun to play.I just feel like I must express these feeling to others who might like this kind of entertainment, sorry.
You might know what Star Wars is. It can bring up powerful feelings just like many other series or movies.
Right now, I really don't like Star Wars. Many here might know the story; watching Star Wars growing up, loving it. Over time Star Wars has gotten not so good.
I recently rewatched episodes 7, 8 and 9 after a while. 7 was okay I guess but the other two.... What a load of shit. If you like them that's okay, for some reason it feels like I have to vent a little bit, sorry. I think Rian Johnson ruined the entire franchise.
These movies have been discussed here before I sure but I'd like to know what do you think? Star Wars, so much wasted potential. Why is this bothering me so much? Come to think of it, the only really good movie in the series is 'The Empire Strikes Back'. However, I really like Star Wars - Battlefront game from 2004, nostalgy kicking in.
Fortunately, Star Trek feels even better.![]()
Because they wanted to involve as many creatives as they could. It was a risk, possibly bred from the huge backlash against the Prequels. People forget how vehement the reaction was. Kennedy would be aware and seek a different way.I still don't understand why they didn't plan the new trilogy before they started filming. How difficult can that be when you have that much money and talent in your pocket?
Looking forward to it.I just popped in 'Rogue One' into my player, let's see how this one and later 'Solo' feels.
I've watched them only once before and don't remember much about them.
