Bard harp's are cool.. I saw one made with lasers but couldn't find it on the net to post.. There's bard harps and lasers that sense that the stream is being broken for rock concerts and techno performances .. The local hospital had the bard laser harp in the children's section.. I like harpsichords more than the classic harp. The autoharp gets boring really fast sometimes...

I say get the bard harp!!

    Hello together,

I guess this thread is ideal to introduce myself :)

    First my general info:
    Name: Andy
    Happily Married
    Age: 36 (1984)
    Country: Germany
    Languages: German, English
Trek series: TNG, DSC, PICd, DS9, VOY

I am considering myself a Trekkie now for 20 years. I started when I realised that it was possible to buy Star Trek VHS on eBay. I enlarged my collection until I owned every single episode. Then I started being active in a German Star Trek Forum and went to my first conventions. Since then I collect Star Fotos on German convention. Although they will never be complete, I am running out of space

I work as a project manager in an industrial equipment company. Other interests are my cats, home improvement, food (flexitarian/ healthy), gym, travelling (USA), playing Piano, Gaming.

I have logged on here in this forum because I hope to meet nice people who share a hobby with me to talk and chat about all possible topics.

Welcome from Bavaria! LOL you were born when I finished school. Now I feel oooooold ;)
I like all Trek but TOS (Kirk is so annoying, never listening to Spock's advice). Having grown up with dogs, I am not much of a cat person but my neighbour's 3 cats have sortof adopted me. Home improvement is a big thing with me as my parents' house is in permanent need of repairs. Travelling is a financial problem for me but posting here is a bit like a trip around the world, too.
I am no gamer but I play guitar and all sorts of flutes and recorders. Atm I am torn between buying a keyboard or a harp.
It's not usual here to give your RL name. You never know what weirdos lurk around, reading (though TrekBBS is generally rather weirdo-free, as far as that can be said of a board full of Trekkies and Trekkers :D)

Do you come from the German Trekbbs? The one here is much more relaxed and friendly. I particularly recommend the lounges - they are perfect for getting to know your fellow posters and making friends with them.

Once you are at a high enough level (based on post count and time since registration), then you will have the ability to delete your own posts. Until then, @Jim Klag is correct, your only recourse is to ask someone on staff to do it. The easiest way to go about that would just be to report on your own post, and request a deletion. Please note, though, it will be up to the staff member's discretion as to whether to grant your request, or not.

Also, just for future reference, questions regarding how the board operates are best posted in the Questions, Suggestions and Feedback forum.

Hi there! I am also new here. I posted a newbie/intro post elsewhere but I thought this would also be a good place to introduce myself and make some new friends. I am excited to be here! I am very new fan as I just started watching this year. So far I've completed TNG and the TNG films and am ready to start DS9. I don't know what took me so long to start watching. It has brought me so much joy and I truly feel like I have found my place with this franchise. I can't wait to meet people on here and have interesting discussions, go to conventions ( when they start having them again), etc. I am 30 years old and happily married. My husband and I are avid comic-con attendees, are big fans of many franchises, enjoy playing table top board games ( when we have time) and love to spend time with our very loving and silly 2.5 year old toddler. Having been very socially distant during this pandemic I feel very fortunate to have found a place to have some social interaction which is wonderful.

Can't wait to meet you guys! :-)

    Welcome!
Binge-watching Trek is certainly a good corona isolation therapy :)
I am a bit older than you so way back I started Trek with TOS and then switched to TNG, DS9 and VOY. Afterwards, I lost track a bit. I'm curious how you'll like DS9. It's my favourite as far as the first seasons are concerned. Later, it got too focused on war for my taste.
Lure your hubby here as well! The more, the merrier. And I think we don't have many couples yet.
If you feel low or bored, I recommend this forum and the Lounges (there is a different one for every rank). They are fun and a very good opportunity to get to know each other and make friends.

Thank you for the tip! ( and EVERYONE for the warm welcome ) How does that work, there being a Iounge for every rank? I have never participated in any sort of forum or message board prior to this. It is still quite new to me, figuring out the rules on how to respond, quote, etc. lol You'd think I wasn't a millennial who grew up with a computer and the internet. lol  My husband is very supportive of my new found outlet, as I now have other people ( other than him) to discuss the show with

I will let you know my thoughts on DS9 when I'm in and/or complete it. Tbh, I was kind of shaken after Nemesis. That was VERY sad. lol and I was not expecting that ending. However, I also felt like it was the perfect way to close that chapter and move on to DS9 lol.. Even though, technically, I understand that DS9 takes place before Nemesis. Do you watch the newer shows?

This is definitely the pandemic pick me up that I needed. Our days were getting monotonous and we were hitting that pandemic wall. I'm glad to have found a new and positive space. :)

When you go to the board index (the main site) you will see a lot of different cathegories and subforums. Rather far down (second from the bottom) there is one called "lounges" which contains this forum (Miscellaneous) and the ranks' lounges. Of these, the Lounge for your rank will be the only one visible to you. If you get a higher rank (depending on time and postcount), you will be able to access a higher lounge but the previous one(s) will become invisible again.

As for the newer shows, I moved 8 years ago and at my new place there's no cable TV available and terrestrial desn't work either. I'd need to install a satellite dish but like Anij learning to swim I've never gotten around to it. But I am not 300 yet :D

Not even if you bring presents :p
