What happened to Chewie?

I just watched ROTS the other day, and Chewbacca is in it (he's referred to by name so we know it's him), on Kashyyk. Yet in Solo, presumably set later in the timeline, Chewie is in prison. How did he get there? What happened to him?

The empire uses Wookiees as slave labor, I assume he was on Mimban to do work but did something to get in trouble.

There were a lot of Wookie slaves on Kessel in Solo itself, and five years after Solo, you can see the Empire still actively rounding Wookie prisoners and sending them to Kessel.

I don't think we've gotten a story about what exactly he did to get thrown in that pit, but there are 12 years between Revenge of the Sith and Solo, so there's plenty of time for him get captured, be made a slave, and then end up where we found him in Solo.
