I didn't recognize the title, so I never would have got this without cheating. But upon playing the video, the song does seem vaguely sorta-kinda familiar, so I've probably heard it at some point in my life.

It sure as Hell is a a toe-tapper. I remember dropping a few quarters here and there to hear those two songs.

Darlene was really just a stand-in for the word 'love'. And to be honest, I didn't even know she had a song called "He's sure the Man I love" (and, honestly, didn't help that she's turned it into "He's sure the Boy I love"). Had I known, well, yeah, considering I used her image, it would have been more fitting.

But no, the song I had in mind was "The Man I love". Still, as that was your original guess, it's your turn.

I don't know why the video isn't playing for you. I specifically went for the official Billie Holiday channel video. Maybe this version from the movie "Hot Shots!" will play for you (fitting, as it was my first exposure to the song), which Valeria Golino totally performs the song herself :
